So here's the thing: let it be known that Robert Robertson the III is not a quitter. Despite life seeming to only know how to punch down on him, he continues to crawl forward.
He has hunted down Shroud for over fifteen years, he had rebuilt the Mecha Suit, and he managed, quite literally, the worst possible team in all of California.

Summary
Robert knew it could happen. The damage to his back from the fall was immense, and there was a chance, but he didn't think it would happen. He didn't think his legs would give up on him. He didn't think there might be a way to fix it. He didn't think the team would care. Seems he got a lot wrong.
