Han Sooyoung stares harder.
Not even a day has passed since she had to save Kim Dokja from getting suffocated after he got his head stuck in his cage, and now she has to deal with… this?
“You. Couldn’t you have waited until this idiot turned back?”
The bastard ignores her and curles into a ball, spikes up in threat, and Han Sooyoung wants to throw him to a wall and watch him struggle to get out when his pricks keep him stuck up there for hours.
But then she gives up.
“You deal with this.”
It turns out to be the best decision she’s made thus far.
Although the delicate situation requires utmost attention, not stressing about it turns out to be the best thing they could’ve done.
Now that Kim Dokja has a companion in his little cage, there is no need for much worry with Yoo Joonghyuk taking up most of his attention.
The hamster is just as bold and friendly as he is in human form. He likes to pull at his introverted cagemate and try to get him to play, only to get hissed at in return.
Surprisingly, the hedgehog is tame. Although he appears annoyed, he merely bristles whenever the other bites his ear and tugs him out of his perch, curling into a ball with a little growl so he doesn’t get disturbed.
Once, Kim Dokja got it into his head to pounce at his unyielding playmate, nearly giving Lee Jihye a heart attack when Yoo Joonghyuk just barely rolls away in time before he can hurt himself from the stunt.
Clearly, the protagonist still poses a threat to their leader even as a mild-mannered creature, and Han Sooyoung finds this to be true when, days later, she finds him mounting the defenseless hamster’s back with a scary focus in his little eyes.
“What the fuck are you doing?!”
Quickly, she pries him off the unmoving hamster’s back, narrowing her eyes when the hedgehog resists by gripping his companion’s white fur harder.
“You, just because he doesn’t have pricks doesn’t mean he’s up for mating!”
Then, directing her furious gaze to the would-be victim, she frowns harder at the innocent look coming from the clueless hamster, oblivious to the crime that nearly occurred if not for Han Sooyoung’s timely entrance.
“And you! Don’t just let him mount you just because you’re cold, stupid rat!”
Unable to understand the noise, Kim Dokja makes grubby hands at her, sensing warmth from her person.
Even while she’s still hot with anger, she couldn’t resist the yearning and places him on her chest, letting him snuggle close while giving Yoo Joonghyuk a different treatment as she hangs him by his pricks between her fingers.
Somehow sensing his intentions of achieving fatherhood from the little marbles attached to his skull, Han Sooyoung firmly stretches her lips into a threatening smile.
“Not on my watch, you little shit.”
Scrunching up her face in the answering glare, she then goes to hand her little problem for the sister to deal with.
And when they finally turn back, Han Sooyoung feels rightfully smug when Kim Dokja squeaks at his sudden state of undress, looking flustered even after the amount of times he’d appeared naked in someone’s presence, receiving Yoo Joonghyuk’s glare proudly as she blocks his view of his dazed and ruffled companion.
“Not on my watch.”
She doesn’t budge even as Yoo Joonghyuk glares her down.
Once Kim Dokja gets over his initial shock and regains his composure, however, he tries to calm her down from her protective stance thinking it’s unnecessary when the silence dragged on for too long.
“Han Sooyoung, it’s fine now.”
She doesn’t spare him a glance, knowing full well he won’t look convinced even by his own statement.
As soon as she saw signs of transformation, she was able to act quickly and managed to throw a nearby blanket and a towel to help cover them up and save their dignity, though Kim Dokja only succeeded in wrapping the blanket loosely around his body in his haste to hide, the length having been too long and getting caught on his steps leaving his shoulder exposed from the low wrap.
Predictably, Yoo Joonghyuk’s gaze is heavy on his exposed skin, looking unashamed even with only a flimsy towel covering his body, irking her even more.
But Kim Dokja seems keen on brushing the incident off, pink dusting his cheeks even as he makes excuses for the regressor to save face.
“I wasn’t in any danger.”
“Your virtue was in danger.”
Han Sooyoung fires back, playing deaf to his spluttering as she continues to shield him from the protagonist, whose eyes remain glued on his barely concealed form.
When the bastard finally notices her presence, Yoo Joonghyuk returns her gaze with a dangerous glint in his eyes, narrowed at the challenge.
Disconcertingly, it carries the weight of a promise.
