He still heard too many noises, and his head was spinning, but at least he could move without problems.
He was about to leave when he heard Allura yell, "Lance!"
He turned, “I'm sorry princess, I know I should stay for the briefing and…”
He stopped: the princess and even Shiro looked at him with equally alarmed looks, as if he had suddenly grown a second head or started bleeding from his eyes.
He put his hand over the face, and screamed when he saw his damn translucent arm.
The worst thing was to come: as he realized he had become a bad copy of Casper, Lance finally saw his body lying on the ground, and couldn't help the growing panic.

Summary
night shift is a series of one-shots set in an au where dean never gets cured after being turned into a vampire. Instead of going back to his old life, he’s stuck living in the dark, trying to find some kind of new normal. each chapter is a snapshot of his life, set at varying points between season 6 and season 15, as he navigates the aftermath of his transformation, the toll it takes on his relationships with those he loves, and the hunger he can’t shake.
UPDATE (13/11/25): this series started as a standalone, but i’m reworking it into the first part of a four-part story. the revisions are meant to smooth out the character arcs so everything connects more naturally going forward. the tone is shifting just a little — dean’s feelings for cas are beginning to surface throughout the course of this fic, but cas doesn’t believe dean’s in love with him — not yet. therefore, the running theme i want to hold onto throughout this series is that quiet tension between hope and doubt — that longing for something real, even when neither of them can quite name it yet. chapters with sexual content will have a !, and finished chapters will have the date of completion, so you know you're reading the final version!

Didn’t expect to love this as much as I do, Likely the only A/B/O fic(s) that I will ever be able to tolerate; writing is phenomenal, grammar gets an A, creative and confusing chapter titles.
I’m only on ch 25 of fic 1 as of 1/7/26, but no smut yet! (though there are some graphic non-con parts. These are mentioned in the notes and are therefore easily skippable). Assuming if there’s smut I can likewise skip it. Loads of whump and h/c, and Cas being a metaphorical angel. -

Hard to read at times. My first time reading an ABO fic for more than 15 seconds without feeling nauseous, but is actually super sweet and contains lots of good whump. Author clearly has a strong grasp of how to write a good plot AND has flawless grammar. Story is amazing. Probs gonna be one of those that I keep coming back to for years lol.

Dean is demonic again and Sam races to find him, realizing there's no other way to save his brother: that arm has to come off. Could be set any time after Ask Jeeves but I guess before the mid-season finale. *EDIT* and definitely before the mid-season premiere.

Gabriel whump. Fair warning: heavy on SA.
Also some smut; skip the last half of the final chapter (but the first half if really cute) and I think there’s a bit in chapter 6? Whatever. Very adorable if not a tad unrealistic re: the way people react to trauma, and fantastic hurt/comfort. Grammar gets a B- :) -

Great feels though it sort of makes me angry in the way that forgiveness prevails over vengeance, which says… some things about me. But whatever.

To tie up the loose ends of a hunt, Dean is forced to go undercover and visit Brock Pleasure Ranch, a horrifying establishment that markets its inhabitants to people with ‘monstrous’ tastes.
It should have been a simple thing, to persuade a mer to give him a few scales for a spell. All part of the usual Winchester byline: saving people, hunting things.
But Castiel is far less of a ‘thing’ than Dean expected. He might not be human, but he’s definitely a person.
And that means he needs saving, too.

Since they fell, a young Castiel and Gabriel were taken by hunters, at first the hunters were kind and protected them before turning cruel and greedy. They used the angels as resources, suppliers for angel feathers, blood and grace. Even skin and bile.
Dean and Sam go to a hunter’s market searching for spell resources when Sam hears something, something too young, too human coming from the Live Goods stall.

Summary
This is my "let's imagine that Gabriel lives" post-season 13 series.
When I look at the earliest works, I squirm. That's because I didn't think this would turn into a series and I didn't put nearly as much effort into the first installments as I should have. Thus, there is pretty shoddy continuity. Forgive me: when I began writing this material, I thought, It's just fanfiction; no one cares about continuity. By this point I have quite changed my mind.
