Fuck, that's not good. Normal, sure, but never good. Tommy rubs a thumb at his eye bags, soothing, gentle, the older leaning into the touch with a soft sigh. There's a shaky breath, a soft, trembling whistling that echoes the first few notes of the Walkürenritt. For not the first time, he thinks of when the apocalypse ends, of a time of peace. An epilogue with soft hands, an ending not with bloodshed. Him and his doctor, his doctor and him. Together, as it was intended.
"Ever think of retirement? Start up apiculture and all that, a tabula rasa." He questions, low and teasing, the wind whistling outside their tent. Somewhere in the distance, a coyote howls, a gunshot rings out, there is silence.
The older stifles a giggle, glove-clad hands grasping onto him tightly, "I'm not that old, you rascal. I think I'd rather kill you in your sleep than retire, bah."

In front of them, in a chunk of ice, was a young blonde-haired boy frozen in the ice. He looked like he was falling, his mouth was open in a silent scream, and his eyes were squinting at something just out of his reach.
An ancient-looking blade was in the ice below him, a long sword that has only been used more recently for artistic purposes. This one was stuck up, jutting out of the ice the boy floated above.
The boy was curled up a little, his right arm up reaching out for- for a golden crown. A crown that looked centuries outdated, but it was no doubt a royal crown adorned in dazzling, rare jewels.
The boy himself was wearing tight, dark brown pants that held a sheath on his hip for his sword. His shirt was a long-sleeved flowy white shirt that had intricate detail along it. His outfit was also… centuries out of date.
“What. The. Fuck,” Wilbur gasped, ...Or:
Tommy, one of the three princes of L'Manburg, disappears one day and is seemingly gone forever. Unbeknownst to the public, Tommy had fallen into magic-infused waters and froze in time. He is found over 300 years later by the two current princes of L'Manburg. Found family ensues.

Tommy tries to register, but god his mind is slow today. "Yeah," he agrees lamely. He doesn't think he has the energy for all that, though. Wilbur looks at him with calculating eyes.
"Tommy?" he asks gently, "Are you okay?"
Tommy shrugs. "I'm lethargic," he says, even though he knows it roots deeper. "That's all."
Wilbur's brow furrows with worry. Tommy steps aside, welcoming him in silently. He steps inside.

Dream's moods to me are very peaks and valleys, not just kinda moody depression vibes, but this is... a "I am tired and numb and don't want to get out of bed" fic for him, ft. his resistance to being cared for meeting Hob's infinite patience and main love language being acts of service.
(It's really kind of soft. Heavier on the comfort than the hurt, at least comparatively to my other fics).

Dream feels numb but he is also incredibly tired. He doesn't want to get up and face anything. He wants to hide, here, in Hob's arms, and he can't let himself. If he does that he might never get back up. Even numb, he wants and he feels. Too much, too much, a voice whispers mockingly.
"It matters," Hob says firmly. "We are going to spend the day doing nothing, or something like that. It ... distresses me to not be able to do anything for you." He turns those eyes on Dream.
