After staying behind to take care of his family, Mike Wheeler is starting college a year late. After a year of distance, unanswered letters and missed calls, they’re now sharing a new city, a dorm, and are forced to face all the feelings they thought they had left behind.

“Well, well, well, Byers, it seems you’ve finally remembered my existence.” She said, a smile could be heard in her voice.
“Your humble servant begs for your forgiveness.” He responded, as a laugh escaped Max’s lips.
“Oh my god! You’re still such a nerd!” She said, in between laughs. “So what’s up?”
“Nothing. Can’t I just want to talk to my bestest friend and trusted confidant Max Mayfield?”
“That’s bullshit. So?”
“Ok, fine.” Will sighed. “I got a call a couple of day ago.”
“Ah, I think I know what this is about. Mike’s daughters, I’m assuming.”
“Yes, which was really crazy, because I didn’t even know they existed.” He huffed, “You can imagine how I felt when I heard the name Jane Wheeler.”
“Well, yeah, it’s a pretty deadly combination.” She huffed.
or: !7 years after leaving Hwakings, Will gets a call that flips his world upside down. It could be his downfall, but it could also give him everything he's ever dreamed of and maybe a little bit more.

He hadn’t meant to say it. He wouldn’t have, if he’d stopped to think about it for half a second. But it’s too late to take it back, and he can’t breathe until he knows the answer, and he looks at him resolutely and says, “Do you only love her because of what I said?”
Something darkens on Mike’s face, twisting it into a shape Will’s never seen. “Get out.”
It’s not a no.

It’s been a year and a half since Hawkins split apart, a year since him and El broke up for good, and a month since he’s had a good night of sleep.
Currently, Mike’s weekly struggles mostly consist about keeping his grades above passing, not letting his feelings for Will get in the way or their newly repaired friendship, and not reacting too strongly to any of the bullshit he hears during Sunday Sermons –he’d rather not have another hour long lecture from his mother about respect, thank you very much.
But as Mike's feelings get harder and harder to keep at bay, Vecna makes his first move. When their plans go awry, Mike faces one of his biggest fears: losing Will for good.

Ever since everybody arrived in Hawkins, they’ve been camping out in the cabin as everyone agreed to stay unless they absolutely needed to leave. It was too dangerous. The atmosphere been oddly awkward since they gathered there.
That is, until Nancy enters the cabin with a bunch of Mike's stuff from their house.
That stuff includes a giant folder and a box.

“Okay, sure, yeah. What about him?”
“I’m a bad friend.” Mike admitted, breathing it out like a vomited confession, like something he was desperate to be rid of.
“Did something happen?” Steve asked.
“Yes.” He paused. “Well, no. It’s— it’s more like… more like… he got a boyfriend.” Mike huffed out a breath.
“I know.” Steve agreed slowly, brows raised. “Carlton. Will, Robin and I met up a while back and he introduced us. Seems like a good kid. What about him?”
Mike felt like a fucking idiot.
Of course Steve didn’t get it. Why would Steve get it?
“I… I just…” How was Mike even meant to begin to talk about this? “It’s driving me crazy, man. I hate the guy.”
OR -
Mike spirals about his feelings, gets in his car, and somehow ends up going to Steve Harrington for help. He gets a much-needed pep talk and finally goes after what he wants.

It’s been a month since Chase last entered a book. A month since the spell page last lit up.
Nox doesn’t know what happened, only that Chase vanished without warning. When the story finally calls him again, Nox finds a very different Chase on the other side. Grief-stricken, guilt-ridden, and trying far too hard to pretend he’s okay.
There’s no magic fix for this: no story twist or clever wish to bring her back. But maybe, if they hold on to each other, they can still find a way forward.
