Scott texts Kip that he’s bringing Shane back to the apartment. “Hey, I kind of have a big favor to ask you and I need you to be supportive about it.”
Kip replies almost immediately, “That sounds ominous, is everything okay?”
“I don’t know,” Scott decides to be honest, “You know how I’m shooting that commercial with Shane Hollander today?”
“Yes…” He can practically feel Kip’s anxiety leaking into that one text.
“Well, I think something happened to him. Something bad. I’m bringing him back to the apartment.”-
Shane and Scott are supposed to be doing a commercial together but Scott notices that Shane’s acting… off. He finds out what happened in Vegas and forces Ilya to fix it.

Summary
Born as the second son of a high-ranking officer in the Russian mob, Ilya Rozanov is sent to head the Bratva’s overseas branch in Canada. One day, his father calls with an assignment: shut down their rival operation in Ottawa, a money-laundering front backed by the Japanese Yakuza. He’s given one name to go off of: Hollander.
Shane Hollander is a graduate student in an MD program specializing in sports medicine. There’s nothing particularly interesting about him, other than the fact that his mother, Yuna Hollander, is the CEO of an arts charity—and the daughter of the chairman of the second-largest yakuza family in Japan.
Unfortunately for Shane, Ilya gets the wrong Hollander.

What if Shane never got injured?
What if Ilya decided to finally take a step back?
What if the 5th best player of MLH was suddenly spotted hanging out hockey's golden boy Shane Hollander?

Ilya is aware of Sebastian Hawthorne like he's aware of all the top 10 players of the league. Though he knows no one can come close to him and Hollander, he still likes to keep an eye out for them.
Hawthorne, or as his teammates call him, Hawk, joined the Toronto Guardians during his Rookie season and has been there for the past six seasons. He's the assistant captain.
“It's like he’s already seen the play unfold five seconds ahead,” Shane had once complained to Ilya over the phone after a particularly nasty loss against the Guardians some seasons back. Ilya then got the impression that Shane didn't like him either.
So imagine his surprise when the picture of Hollander and Hawk shows up on his feed: laughing and practically having the time of their lives while leaving a high-end bakery.

“You’ve got to show Hollander,” someone laughs incredulously.
Before he can really process what is happening, J.J. is shoving a phone in his face, the screen so close the picture that he is trying to show him is nothing but a blurb of a man and woman.
“Look at this shit, can you believe it?” J.J. asks excitedly.
“I don’t know what I’m looking at,” Shane cringes back, eyes hurting.
“Rozanov is engaged.”And just like that, the world stops.
Shane blinks, and then blinks again. Surely he misheard.

Shane hears a rumor in the locker room that Ilya Rozanov is engaged. He breaks his own heart by believing it without asking Ilya if it's true.
