"I have scars too." It's an offering, something small and fragile clasped in his palm. Bruce offers the hand holding the dangerous vulnerability of his life to Jason, waiting.
Jason turns to look at Bruce over his shoulder, and Bruce sees the moment understanding fills the boy's eyes. Sometimes Jason acts too old for his age, filled with empathy beyond his years.
He reaches out and accepts the small offering, holding it carefully in his own damaged hands.
(The first time Bruce washes his son's hair.)

Summary
It is relief that washes off of Bruce in great waves of uncertainty. Talia relishes in it all, dipping her feet into this new sea of understanding he's letting her in on. She wonders if he even realises that she knows, that deep down;
Batman is glad the Joker is dead. Batman is even more pleased that it was not him who killed the Joker.
The air between them smells like vindication.
Talia smiles to herself, "I didn't do it for you."
(Talia al Ghul kills the Joker. This manages to solve a lot of problems.)

Summary
In the past, it's a standard gala until men with guns interrupt.
In the present, it's a charity event. With only one man and only one gun.
Jason saves the day both times. (The second time is a little worse, though.)
Jason reaches up, yet again, to fiddle with the knot of his tie. Bruce sighs knowingly and catches his hand then holds it, swinging it between them. He smiles as Jason rolls his eyes but doesn’t take his hand back, just arranges it so they’re clasped together.
“It’s not as tight as it feels,” Bruce says.
He chews on his bottom lip before he realizes what he’s doing and stops, scowling. “You’re used to it, old man,” Jason says. “It’s exactly as tight as it feels.”
“Jay – .”
“I don’t even gotta be at this one,” Jason whines, sounding all of five instead of thirteen. “C’mon, B. Couldn’t I’ve just stayed home? You don’t need me.”

Jason leans over himself, pinches the bridge of his nose. “I’m fine. I’ll be fine—just….”
“Of course you’re going to be fine,” Dick says. “You are fine.”
Jason shakes his head. “I can’t—it wasn’t me, Dick.”
“It wasn’t,” Dick agrees.
“It was just a fucking movie.” Jason wraps his arms around himself, the cadence of his breathing still uneven and quick and concerning. “I shouldn’t be—It shouldn’t matter to me.”
“It’s okay,” Dick says.
“He just—it sounded the same.”

“Everything was fine,” Bruce whispers, reaching out to tuck the cowlick of white hair away from Jason’s eyes. He blinks at Bruce, more blue than green. He doesn’t push him away. “You can go back to sleep,” Bruce tells him softly. “It’s early.”
And Jason, with the same shadowed eyes as the rest of them, doesn’t argue. His eyelids flutter closed, his weight slumps in relaxation. His slow exhale ruffles couch-lint when he murmurs, “Stay?”

Robin whirls, taking in the body dropped with a headshot. With a scowl, Jason kneecaps the idiots trying to take out Robin from behind again.

Except there's one small problem: most of them involve Bruce, and Jason doesn't really think Bruce cares all that much about him anymore.This is a story about how wrong he is, but I made it sad anyway.

“Breathe,” Rosanov’s voice commanded. Shane was not sure if he would ever breathe again.

Shane has a panic attack before the playoff finals. Who else finds him but Rosanov? Months later, Ilya is unable to shake the encounter and tries to get Hollander to let him in again. Both struggle with the unexpected vulnerability of it all. Set some time after Vegas, when both are falling hard but still stuck in denial.
