Well, my lovely children, I’ll tell you, the Centaurs discovered a new sport, a sport that they didn't really know of. Which is odd since it's one of the most popular sports in the world. Here's what they knew about cricket:
1. Shane knew Canada had a cricket team, which was unfortunately at the bottom of the Group D board in the current World Cup.
2. Shane and Ilya both knew that cricket was being added to the Summer Olympics.
3. And, from the few clips they watched, they knew Adam Zampa and Marcus Stoinis were fucking, and their nosey asses were determined to find out if they were right. -

Bood and Chouinard chuckled as they watched Ilya’s eyes widen in horror.

Ilya carefully lifted his gaze from his hoodie, surprised by Shane’s tone. He was very serious now.

The center went to do a backhand shot, but he didn’t bite. When the Montreal center saw he didn’t fall for it, his face paled, but it was too late to stop; Montreal shot the puck, and he grabbed it without trouble. He chuckled, made a thumb-down sign, and blew a raspberry. The Montreal player muttered something about him being an asshole and skated away.
Only Montreal could be so idiotic as to try a Rozanov in the Ottawa arena. For fucks sake, two of Becker’s friends could actually pull it off, and he trained with them. Insulting. He is the best fucking goalie in the league since Hayes retired. He is done with Montreal; they are not scoring. Decision made.OR
I got so pissed at the new rule about transgender athletes that the NHL pulled out of their asses, that I made a full fanfic in the current "future" season 2025/2026 about the new goalie for the centaurs after Hazy's retirement, the NHL, and the son of the centaur's owner.

“ILY-a. Lot.” Ilya pauses, tilting his head and rereading it like the answer might appear if he tries hard enough. “I still don’t get it.”
Harris opens his mouth to explain—a bit annoyed at the idea of having to walk Ilya through the joke—when Shane steps in from the ice, breathless and a bit sweaty, clearly not paying attention as he fiddles with his gear.
“Hollander,” Ilya says immediately. “What does ILY mean?”
Shane blinks. “I love you?”
“Yes, I know you love me. But what does it mean?”

Chapter 17 is a deliberate rewrite of a key scene from The Long Game that I couldn’t live with as written.

It started, as so many things do, with a tweet.
“Hey, Hollzy! Look at this! It’s so you and Roz,” Evan Dykstra said, shoving his phone in Shane’s face. Shane squinted at the slightly blurry screen, willing his eyes to focus on the small font. He never brought his glasses to practice (much to Ilya’s chagrin), but he also never anticipated reading whatever stupid meme the Centaurs decided was vital for his desolate knowledge of pop culture.
Me and the bad bitch I pulled by being autistic, it read, followed by a photo pulled from Centaurs socials of Ilya and Shane smiling at each other like idiots at a team event.
Shane read it a second time, then looked up at Dykstra, who looked incredibly proud of himself. Clearly, Ilya was supposed to be the ‘bad bitch,’ because no one had ever put those two words in the same sentence as Shane Hollander.
“Funny, D,” Shane began, “but I’m not autistic.”
