He knows that it's not really Rin begging him to chase after her, but... it doesn't really seem like he's the one thinking this stuff, either.

“No, hold on!” Kusuke flails. “I actually think this could work! Besides, if you could figure it out on your own you wouldn’t have called me.”
He’s right, unfortunately. Kusuo is out of options, and he’s quickly running out of time. It’s just… it’s such a stupid plan.

Evidently, someone found him on the bottom of the ocean and assumed he was dead. He’s a little surprised that he slept through the ensuing commotion. He’s always been a fairly light sleeper.

Summary
Here is the thing about dying: it’s only dying if it’s non-existence. Dying is the opposite of living; ergo, if you are experiencing anything, you are not dead. You can’t not be on a boat. You’ve only ever been, while not on a boat.
Rin is still experiencing. It doesn’t matter if she keeps ruining her body, because she just keeps starting over. She’s not dying. She’s not dying, because she’s still here, and she’s getting awfully tired of the taste of salt in her mouth.

Summary
Rin-sensei has always seemed- untouchable, to Naruto. Not in the sense that he doesn’t think she can get hurt; he’s watched her fight often enough to know that she’s only human. Especially now, as he comes further and further into his abilities, as his strength begins to surpass her’s, Naruto knows just how kill-able she is.
It’s just- Rin shrugs off things that she shouldn’t. She slips through death and guilt and loneliness like a duck through water. No matter who she loses, or what goes wrong, she’s always the same old Rin-sensei. She seems untouchable.

Rin’s always known that she’s an afterthought in the team. She’s always known that when people look at them, they notice Obito and Kakashi and Minato first, and if they notice her at all, she’s just “the girl.” She’s always known that even Obito, her best friend, doesn’t really see her. She’s known that she’s not really a person to anyone.
Knowing all that doesn’t stop the three birthday presents she does not want or need in any way from hurting.

Summary
Here are the things that Obito was quietly suspecting Rin would disapprove of, if she was still watching: killing Minato-sensei, killing the Uchiha, mind controlling more people than he can count, and you know, the whole trying to take over the world so that he put everyone into a perfect dream. Some days he can barely convince himself that he’s in the right, after all- why would sweet, perfect Rin be okay with these things?
So when Orochimaru uses Edo Tensei to bring back Rin, Obito has resigned himself to timid disappointment and horror. That’s not what he gets, though- as it turns out, Obito never really knew Rin, and she’s angry about all the wrong things and indifferent about everything else.
