“Yes.”
There’s the sound of movement as Combeferre unplugs his phone and settles back against his pillows. “And you, somehow—stupidly, I might add—decided to make her happy by agreeing to date someone?”
“Yes.” There’s a very pregnant pause. Enjolras curls and uncurls his hands into fists.
“Right,” says Combeferre. “We’re having this conversation tomorrow.” And then he hangs up.

They both freeze. Grantaire pauses with a mouthful of pastry, and Joly stops in the middle of standing from his chair. Fuck, Grantaire thinks. Fuck, shit, fuck. There is no scenario where Joly didn’t recognize Enjolras’ voice just now, and Grantaire is way too tired to think on his feet and intercept this situation before it explodes.
Enjolras chooses that moment to walk out of the hallway and into the living room.
Or: When Joly inadvertently figures out that Enjolras and Grantaire are together, Grantaire is forced to confront some latent insecurities and Enjolras realizes he might have an issue with communication.

Summary
Kinkmeme fill: When Enjolras was a teenager, he fell painfully in love with a guy. He is asexual, though, and that boy tried to pressure him into sex, said there was no point in being together if Enjolras wasn't going to put out, and dumped him.
Enjolras therefore presents himself as completely uninterested in romantic relationships, since he doesn't want a repeat. He knows that Grantaire wants him, and starts to develop feelings back. But every time he starts considering a relationship, Grantaire will pay a compliment to his looks, or talk about sex, and he becomes convinced that Grantaire wouldn't accept a sexless relationship.
