“Okay, let’s think about this rationally,” he sighs after a moment. Lance hates having to be the rational one. “Before we go killing innocent creatures that totally don’t deserve it, maybe we should ask ourselves where it came from. How did a spider get onto the ship? What kind of spider is it? What does it need to eat and live contently?”
“A spider breaks into our home, and you want to just give it room and board?” Pidge demands.

"Come on, Keith," Lance smiles, spreading his hands out. He skates backwards, widening the distance between them. Keith has to stop himself from following. Lance does a little loop, a rudimentary imitation of the move, before stopping back in front of him. He's closer now, and Keith notices a light flush on his cheeks. "Teach me how to fly."
Shiro, head coach of the Galaxy Garrison University's own hockey team, has given Keith the task of giving one of his players, Lance, figure skating lessons. Which is a super great idea and nothing crazy will happen. Right?

He’s not letting Lance see him laugh at that idiocy. “Was that a laugh? Were you, Keith Kogane, trying to cover up a laugh? At one of my cheesy lines?”

Checkers is a board game played between two people on an 8x8 checked board. Each player has 12 pieces that are like flat round disks that fit inside each of the boxes on the board. Sometimes the pieces are black and red.
Sometimes the game is played less conventionally.
Sometimes, the game is the only communication between one daytime security guard (who happens to be an alien) and one nighttime security guard (who happens to be a vampire). Sometimes, against all odds, the two of them meet. Sometimes, everything goes right.
Sometimes, all of the above is correct.
