As this haunting refrain continues to pass across Hell, heralding strange events and odd behavior from powerful Hellborn, Charlie Morningstar is just trying to keep her hotel running as both a rehab and a halfway house for demons wishing for safety and protection, plan her wedding, and keep her sanity while dealing with her mother's return to the stage after an eight year absence and a trio of new media Overlords who might have shady plans.
But despite all the little problems piling up, there’s something even bigger afoot. Something is very, very wrong in Hell and Heaven knows what it is. After a year's absence and unnerving silence, they've approached the Morningstars with a bargain that will open up secrets left buried for millenniums and put the fate of Hell and Heaven in Charlie's hands.

Lucifer released air from behind pursed lips with a teakettle whistle. “Listen, Box.”
“Vox.“
“That’s what I said. Iiii don’t want your soul. I don’t actually do that, mmkay? Common misconception, actually.” He nodded slowly, eyes wide and doll-like, his mouth arranged in a sharp-toothed half-smile. He was, and this was annoying to admit, unfairly pretty. Like so pretty you wanted to hit him until he was less pretty. Piss-On-The-Mona-Lisa because you want to destroy something beautiful pretty. “It’s gross. It’s a little weird. And, like, what- what do I even need souls for? Look at me. I’m good. That’s just a cheap way Sinners try to get on the level of beings like me.”
Vox leaned forward, hopeful. The contempt washed right over him. Yeah, Sinners were assholes and most of them were stupid and the 1% were clever and opportunistic and Lucifer should fucking hate them and when they rose up and punched him off his throne, he could choke on that disdain for all he cared. “So you’re going to tear up the contract, right?”

If Angel calls for him, he'll step in.
He will. He's not fucking heartless. Velvette called him a doormat earlier and she's fucking wrong, he just knows when to pick his battles, and this is a real boundary he will enforce. Vox isn't allowed to break Val's things.
Angel just has to call for him.
A shrill scream cracks in the air and Valentino flinches, half jolting towards the motel door, before realizing that it was just the storm. Fucking scream rain. He worries the tip of his thumb at the junction between his phone and the case, fiddling with the blunt plastic, resisting the childish urge to chew on his nails.
It's fine. He's being stupid.
Or: Vox leaves Valentino to pick up the pieces of his latest brainwashing session. Valentino takes Angel home.

Summary

As part of his begrudging reparations, Vox is working as the hotel's PR Manager, intending to stew in his resentment forever—but no one stays immune to Charlie Morningstar for long, and Vox is no exception.

Summary
When he grabs Vox again, Vox doesn't come easy—he lashes out blindly with claws and rakes them across Val's cheek, opening a thin gash, and Val grunts as he seizes both of Vox's wrists with his two lower hands and takes hold of Vox's shoulders with his upper ones. Sparks prickle against his skin, sharp and biting, but Vox isn't trying to electrocute him—he's just vibrating like one large livewire, overloading just like the machine beside them.
"No—no, don't fucking—you can't—"
Vox struggles, jerking against Val's grip, breath coming in desperate, labored gasps. Val doesn't let go. Because that was never really the question, was it?
There is no world in which Val lets him go.
Or: Valentino handles Vox's crashout a little differently.

Summary
Vox's screen fills his field of vision, arresting his spiraling thoughts.
He's holding a needle and thread.
Alastor's smile is curdling at the edges, but he doesn't break eye contact. Vox's gaze devours him, always so wide and hungry, but there's something else lurking in his expression that has Alastor not quite as wary as he should be, perhaps, because it's not sadism or even cruelty in the way Vox is looking at him now. Vox's smile is calmer. He's quieter, no longer jumpy with excitement like he'd been earlier today, although still smug and a little too pleased with himself. Far more tolerable than before, at least.
"How about it?" Vox says, cocking an eyebrow. He holds the needle like an offering, like Alastor has a choice.
Alastor deliberately leans back, letting his head rest against the wall with the vain hope that it will make the room stop spinning. "By all means."
Or: Finally alone together, Alastor reopens some emotional wounds as Vox fixes his physical ones.
