Summary
If Angel calls for him, he'll step in.
He will. He's not fucking heartless. Velvette called him a doormat earlier and she's fucking wrong, he just knows when to pick his battles, and this is a real boundary he will enforce. Vox isn't allowed to break Val's things.
Angel just has to call for him.
A shrill scream cracks in the air and Valentino flinches, half jolting towards the motel door, before realizing that it was just the storm. Fucking scream rain. He worries the tip of his thumb at the junction between his phone and the case, fiddling with the blunt plastic, resisting the childish urge to chew on his nails.
It's fine. He's being stupid.
Or: Vox leaves Valentino to pick up the pieces of his latest brainwashing session. Valentino takes Angel home.

Summary
(written before hazbin s2; canon references are vague to nonexistent.)
After their stunning defeat, the Vees are on parole at the Hazbin Hotel, their souls owned by the royal family. As part of his begrudging reparations, Vox is working as the hotel's PR Manager, intending to stew in his resentment forever—but no one stays immune to Charlie Morningstar for long, and Vox is no exception.
Chronological, connected oneshots.

Summary
When he grabs Vox again, Vox doesn't come easy—he lashes out blindly with claws and rakes them across Val's cheek, opening a thin gash, and Val grunts as he seizes both of Vox's wrists with his two lower hands and takes hold of Vox's shoulders with his upper ones. Sparks prickle against his skin, sharp and biting, but Vox isn't trying to electrocute him—he's just vibrating like one large livewire, overloading just like the machine beside them.
"No—no, don't fucking—you can't—"
Vox struggles, jerking against Val's grip, breath coming in desperate, labored gasps. Val doesn't let go. Because that was never really the question, was it?
There is no world in which Val lets him go.
Or: Valentino handles Vox's crashout a little differently.

Summary
Vox's screen fills his field of vision, arresting his spiraling thoughts.
He's holding a needle and thread.
Alastor's smile is curdling at the edges, but he doesn't break eye contact. Vox's gaze devours him, always so wide and hungry, but there's something else lurking in his expression that has Alastor not quite as wary as he should be, perhaps, because it's not sadism or even cruelty in the way Vox is looking at him now. Vox's smile is calmer. He's quieter, no longer jumpy with excitement like he'd been earlier today, although still smug and a little too pleased with himself. Far more tolerable than before, at least.
"How about it?" Vox says, cocking an eyebrow. He holds the needle like an offering, like Alastor has a choice.
Alastor deliberately leans back, letting his head rest against the wall with the vain hope that it will make the room stop spinning. "By all means."
Or: Finally alone together, Alastor reopens some emotional wounds as Vox fixes his physical ones.

She does not tell them about all the little apocalypses that came before.

Summary
This is a mistake. This is a terrifying alien from actual outer space who eats people and, on a moral coin flip, only just decided not to annihilate the entire human race. Thanks to Eddie, of all people, apparently, and he thinks maybe Venom put a little too much faith in him.
But Eddie reaches his hand out anyway.

"Please, Bobby. Please don't be mad at them. I shouldn't have lied, I should never have tried to be something I wasn't—please, I need to talk to Celine, she—I just—I just wanted to fix it and—and—"
"Hey, whoa. Okay. Okay. Hey, breathe. Rumi. Please breathe."
Rumi sucks in a shuddering gasp, one after another. Bobby rubs his hands up and down her bare shoulders, his attention never once leaving her, no matter how much she trembles and cries in pathetic, hitching bursts like a coward, too afraid of her duty to push him away and find Celine, too scared to fall on her own sword like she should, because her body is weak and her mind is too and this is all she's ever really wanted—to be held like she's easy to love.
Or: After the Idol Awards, Bobby finds Rumi before she can go to Celine.

“Do demons get internet connection in hell? Have you been making trips up here just to file for credit cards and get verified on TikTok?”
“Is this really what you want to waste this interrogation on?” Jinu asks dubiously, gaze flitting between each of them in turn. “I thought you wanted real information.”
“You’re a pretty bad hostage,” Rumi points out. “You’re not supposed to be keeping us on track.”
“Oh, sorry, I didn’t realize there was unspoken hostage etiquette nowadays.”
“Don’t play the ‘four hundred years old’ card, you just admitted to knowing how modern life works.”
“Give me a break, I didn’t ask to be kidnapped!”
“You weren’t trying all that hard to get away—”
“You’re unnaturally strong—”
Or: Huntrix is really good at taking hostages, the Saja Boys demonstrate exemplary problem-solving skills, and Jinu has A Night.

Angel can’t shake the feeling that it can’t be over. How can he really be free when he knows Val is still out there, defeated but not gone? Maybe this makes him a vindictive asshole and maybe he won’t deserve redemption after this, but fuck, it’s been so long since Angel’s felt like his spite means anything at all.
He’s so sick of having a monster under the bed. Time to turn on the lights.
Or: The Vees have been defeated, but Angel and Valentino aren't finished with each other just yet.

Summary
Jinu can’t leave without Gwi-Ma’s permission, but sometimes he stands under the open and roiling sky and watches the barrier cascade in musical waves overhead, thousands of glimmering blue filaments that undulate with deceptive delicacy, offering, if even for a second, a glimpse of an overworld that rouses itself to song. It is not lost on Jinu that he serves a warped inverse of that purpose down here.
But demons don’t flock to his music. They shy away from it, wilting rather than blooming, because on a very literal level they understand that his voice isn’t for them. Gwi-Ma is a jealous god, and he cannot abide it if the rewards that his gifts reap don’t return to him, always, in the end.
Or: In which Jinu makes choices (a real mixed bag of them), trips into a situationship, regrets everything, lies to himself and others, and decides he wants to be a better person after all, actually—not necessarily in that order.

“I thought you weren’t ashamed of them anymore.”
Rumi eyes Jinu in the mirror, scowling. “I’m not. It’s just… weird to have them out all the time.”
Jinu, who also has his patterns out all the time and once called them a constant reminder of my shame, shrugs where he’s leaning against the open door frame. “So cover them up.”
“I just—wouldn’t that make me a hypocrite? I sing this huge song about friendship and loving myself and then I go right back to being scared to show my bare arms in front of my two closest friends. It’s ridiculous. I’m ridiculous.”
“Your words, not mine.”
Or: Living is harder than dying. Jinu and Rumi move forward.

Summary
Vox navigates to Alastor’s account, reports him for spam, and blocks him. Then unblocks him, because like hell is he having the last word.
@VoxPopuli: You are an amateur HACK with a DEATH WISH. One day you’re going to fuck around & find out, & you won’t enjoy what happens after.
@RadioDemon: That almost sounded like a threat!
Dread pools in Vox’s heart.
Minutes later, Vox gets an email that his account has been placed under review for threats of violence. He fumbles with the lock on his car door, kicks it open, and flings his phone across the barren street with a shriek of rage.
Or: Alastor's greatest joys in life are chasing tornadoes, risking his life, & making Vox regret being born. Vox plays whack-a-mole with TOS violations, accumulates credit card debt, & fails to blackmail anybody.

Summary
“Simplicity is very attractive to you. If you can believe every person has a pure, untouchable inner core of goodness hiding beneath the murk, then all the nuance of a full, gray life becomes little more than set dressing.”
“I put people in boxes.”
“Perhaps.”
“I don’t… I mean, I don’t do it because I really believe everyone is so one-dimensional. I just know that Heaven sees us that way, and maybe if I speak their language, they’ll be more likely to—ugh, I don’t know! Listen?” Charlie scoffs. “Yeah, right.”
Alastor twists to regard her, fixing her with a thin smile. “One lesson Lucifer tried to teach you that I do wish you’d learned—it’s useless to meet the enemy on their terms. You’ll always be giving up ground you’ll wish you hadn’t.”
Or: In the month preceding the battle with Heaven, Alastor and Charlie go for walks around the city, debate moral philosophy, and crack each other open like oysters.

Summary
(or, one went up, two went down)
From the 1920s to the early 1950s, the Durante Family of Newark, NJ operated as an arm of the Luciano Crime Family, bound together by both blood and business. At their height during Prohibition, a series of questionable business ventures and a string of family tragedies eroded the family's influence and reputation throughout the 30s and 40s until they became nothing more than a footnote in history, its members forgotten by all save a few.
(Arackniss, Angel, and Molly all died before the age of 40. But before that, Johnny, Tony, and Molly lived.)

Summary
Alastor blinked at Rosie, expression frozen in a snapshot of vague alarm. “My dear,” he said, smile twitching, “what is that?”
Rosie grinned. “It’s adorable, don’tcha think? Really gets me into the holiday spirit.”
The bell collar in her hands glinted menacingly. Alastor didn’t give her the satisfaction of seeing him scout the exits, but his shadow did begin to creep surreptitiously towards the open windows, making a brave bid for freedom—ultimately in vain, but Alastor appreciated the instinct.
“It’s a bit… bold,” Alastor hedged.
“What, and that sundress you put me in last month wasn’t?”
“That was tasteful.”
“It was mid-calf!” Rosie threw up her hands, making the bell collar jingle. Alastor couldn’t tear his eyes away from it. “And don’t you give me any crap about plausible deniability, there was nothing deniable about that hemline.”
Or: Rosie and Alastor play games. Vox reaps all the benefits.

Summary
Husk almost argued on principle, but he knew better than anyone that having a good poker face wasn’t the same as being a trickster. Alastor had taught him that well. He just wasn’t cut out for the type of beguiling fae shit Alastor got up to with his deals—back at the casino, risk and loss were as straightforward a business as Husk could run, given the circumstances. There was something almost clean about it. What Alastor did always left Husk feeling like he needed a long scrub in the shower afterward.
Or: Husk and Alastor run an errand.
