awww man i knew getting back into the Naruto fandom was a mistake because i'd end up stumbling across something like this and then spending the next two weeks re-reading the same stor(ies) over and over again. all props to the author's writing, of course.
superbly paced, with enough focus on what the author wanted to tell and convey without the extra padding a longer ff might take. every chapter is filled with plot advancement, character growth, and a bitter drop of hope even if the ending is technically a tragedy. there was enough changes from canon that it stands on its own, and yet so familiar you can understand how fate has its way of pushing things into life.
chapter 8 has yet to fail to make me tear up. team four is forever now in my heart. will definitely revisit this once in a while, and I daresay this is one of the author's best works.

if you guys think i first read this on ff.net and then ran on this fic years later on this website, suddenly finding the urge to bookmark this and download for immortality on my pc...yes, you're right. that's exactly what happened. perhaps one day this may be finished, but what's already written is a journey of joy. this is one of the most meta and unusual takes on fanfic, right there with my heavenly judgement and the clan of samsara, and i enjoyed this thoroughly. hoping this will one day be finished, but even if it never is, what exists is a defining experience for anyone wanting the change up the good 'ol oc-in-naruto formula.

an absolute joy to read after deep-diving back into star trek. there's so much chemistry between the two leads, and it's so satisfying watching them both go through the hurdles of their relationship. awkward, intense, and deliciously sexy. is this the first pwp pon farr fic around? oh definitely not. but it's certainly one of the most well-written. saeva is also my favorite original protagonist of this author's works, right before sera, and so human in emotions despite being vulcan in origin. i'm honestly praying that this won't turn into another pregnancy fic, as it already had been done in another of the author's primary work, but if that is what the author has in mind then that is what i will accept.

feels like that, if by chance, takamatsu-sensei wanted to set skip to loafer in an adult-appropriate setting in LA (like how many old 90s modern shojo happened to be in america), this would be the exact result. it's such a call back to the series and yet so refreshing altogether with enough differences to keep readers on their toes. i don't know how the author did it, but they made something both simultaneously so nostalgic and novel all at once.

greatly enjoyed this one. from the fully fleshed Esher to the lore building of TWST to the easy navigation between budding character relationships. while it's following canon as of far, it's great to read a work that dives so throughly into what i enjoyed most about the original games: the development of and between our well-beloved characters. Esher is a great protagonist, with a stark personality contrasting the world she's been thrown in yet rememberance of the one she's lived in. the allusions to her world and how it's shaped her, the residents of twst's reactions to her presence, and her deep ties to something so unearthly is done is a tastefully mysterious way without leaning deep into purple-prosed angst. also super easy to follow for a noob to DnD, and while i know some basic rules and watched a few campaigns, i'm super grateful. also, plus points for a fighting but not OP protag and the beef she has with other characters. it gets tiring if everyone fawns over the OC or when the OC gives the Author's Favorites the benefit of the doubt on first sight, and this was a breath of fresh air in this fandom. dunno if it'll ever be finished, as oft with wips of this stature, but i've enjoyed every second of my time reading this and i will no doubt store this for a future reread. looking forward to the day it might be finished.
TLDR; pls begging her to give best boi Kalim a chance; possibly my favorite eng fanfic characterization of Crowley to date + the scenes between Crowley and protag is chef's kiss. solidly written, deftly paced, and some of the best characterizations and interactions with a well-defined OC around

while normally not a work i'd usually throw into my bookmarks, the sheer size of this epic and its impact on the entirety of the TWST fandom (specifically fanlore and fanfiction) is so immense that i got (willingly) roped into. this characterization of yuu, our insert protag, leans towards the mary-sue ends of characterization, but it's also one of the most reliant on canon information about our faceless protagonist. any of yuu's weaknesses only serves to increase her likability. it's shaping to be a kind of souless not-harem, which i'm not a fan of, but i do greatly enjoy the dynamics between the characters, the plot development and reactions after each climax, and the fact that the author is, at least for now, keeping romance out of the equation. i greatly appreciate the author's depth of research and the lengths they would go to incorporate as much as canon as possible, both from twst and hp!
while i'm not a fan of most hp crossovers, this has the added benefit(?) of taking place in a time past the seven novels, into the epilogue and cursed child. as a fan of both series, i look forward to the references and mentions into the wizarding world and its political landscape after voldemort's tyrannical reign. while i am one of the may who opts to believe that the cursed child isn't canon, i do appreciate works based on the next generation and daringness to write about a time so parodoxically viewed upon. due to the sheer size of this story, i am not sure if it would ever be completed especially considering the author's own life and responsibilities, but in the end despite my biased misgivings this is still a work of exceptional quality. i am in awe of the writer's ability and grit, and extremely happy to have something to binge on. also, completely biased, but CH 4 IS FINISHED AND KALIM IS MY FAV so that's an automatic plus points in my book.
TLDR; slightly mary-sue characters and a not-harem leaning into wish-fufillment, but it's a well-done one. despite myself, i find myself remembering this and returning to this story ever so often. meandering developments, but always continous. enjoyable, if looking for character dynamics from twst canon characters and something to binge on for hours on end.

can't believe it took me this long to find out one of my old favorite writers of fanfic migrated all their works over to ao3 lol. and like usual, i immediately desperately downloaded just about all the chapters to my hard drive in efforts of making my flights and commute more bearable and less boring. anyways, this of all things was my introduction to the tales of series, and i'll forever have the author to thank for that!
solid writing, great characterization, and a beautiful mix of canon's plotline and the OC's own agency make these stories oldies but goodies. for a good few years i thought the stories were completely dead to the abyss, so this is a pleasant surprise. wishing all the best to the author and hoping one day i'll see these works to its conclusion.

if you think that i found this on fanfiction.net and ran over to ao3 to bookmark this immediately...you're right. yes, this is one of the many fics i've hunted down on ao3 so i could have my personal offline pdf copy to read through during one of my many flights.
anyways - goddamn, this is such a well-done series. the one thing i like about ff.net is that there's really no need for tags, so i never get spoiled, and everything i've read in the first part of this series wowed me in a way i don't remember since reading 'out of time' back in... 2012. this is, without a doubt, going to be reread throughout the years. and also - i had no idea this was written by the same person as the creator of 'Ace of Spades' which was basically one of the most popular Ace/OC fanfics to ever be created, and that definitely threw me down a tunnel hole. the writing have improved by leaps and bounds and it's such a strange feeling to know that a beloved author of a different fandom is still active to this day in a fandom you enjoy, y'know?
anyways. huge fan of unhealthy dynamics, a super duper huge fan of the writing style and quality and intensity of the relationships described, especially with the explicit acknowledgment of unhealthy dynamics, super big fan of age gaps (so that's a no brainer for me), and a super big fan of well written OCs with their own backgrounds, personlity, and active contribution to the story being created. this series hits the nail on the head of all the pointers i've wanted in my story; how could i not adore it?

a fun reminder of why i really, really enjoy how well-done OCs in the harry potter fandom can completely spin each story differently. super sad lewin doesn't have a canon first name, but who the heck needs a full name when you have a fully fleshed character, charming personality and all, and a lovely dynamic with the ever beloved weasley twins? two major extra points i have to give credit to this for: the actual characterization of the lewin family (i eagerly anticipate seeing their dynamic with our protagonist as well as their role in the future, especially as their fears and stance in the war is so believably petrifying), and the flirting. well, of course the flirting. i enjoyed every single interaction fred had with lewin, and i've probably reread this more than i care to admit. this is so well written, i have nothing to complain about. i hope it'll find its way to completion one day, and that the author enjoys writing this as much as i've enjoyed reading this.
TDLR; my fav hp characters are the weasley twins, followed by hermione and mcgonagall, and it's a crying shame that there aren't more works with them as the leading characters on my favorites list, either on fanfic.net or ao3... so. definitely rereading this for the years to come + plus points for another OC i absolutely adore

i genuinely did not know how much i needed a well-done cracktastically angsty fic. it's so, so difficult to balance the two genres but because miki is who she is and i can genuinely share the cast of characters opinions on her charming personality (c'mon. hinata totally holds a soft spot. so does shikamaru, and maybe even orochimaru [MY FAV!!] in his own weird, twisted way.) this was so well written and i absolutely devoured this in one go, and then went back to read this twice more within the same week. i hope one day this fic will come to completion because watching miki's journey is an adventure in itself. miki and shikako are now tied for favorite OCs i've ever had the pleasure of reading in the naruto fandom.

had to crawl back to this fandom to find this - luckily, not a hard task at all, seeing as how well recognized and popular this fic (deservedly) is. one of the most well-executed villain redemption i've ever seen - and unlike in other works (like, say, naruto with sasuke), nathan never gets a chance in his original world to face his horrors head on. the only crumbs we get of what he *can* be are seen in bits and pieces in the original game, and like the rest of the cast, he has horrible, life-destroying faults. he really isn't a good person, and this piece of work makes that clear and well-known. but he's also a victim, and the transformation i've seen both him and max go through, having to deal with the aftermath and consequences of her actions, are great to read through. this isn't like rachel, who's beloved by all and still had to face her death, or chole, who everyone in this fandom loves to death. nathan is so polarizing even within the fandom himself, and so realistically trashy you'd never want to approach him IRL. look, i'm not so much of a fan of the bad-boy-turns-good trope, but the writer actually made it work, so props to them.
TLDR; redemption!! complex characters!! nathan and max (cause he totally had a crush back on her in canon anyways, what the hell!!)

look, i've probably drowned down at least 35% of all the fics in the twisted wonderland fandom - and that's a lot!!, and this remains my Favorite out of the entirety that i've read. for one, yuu/the player is the most well-developed out of all the ones i've seen before, probably also thanks to how she has an actual background with History and Personality (wow!!) with faults (wOW!!) everyone else also manages to get along with the Mc without, like... simping over OOC, and by the holy sevens, this just jumped to being rare to being an exotic piece of work. it probably doesn't also help that 50% of the fics in the fandom feature a faceless MC as a self-insert, which isn't bad, but i like a bit of oomph to my protagonists, y'know? and boy, does the action flow well. i can literally picture the fight scenes as i read it, and each chapter brings all the characters to life which is just about everything i need in a piece of writing. i know nothing about pokemon besides the (1) game i played back on my DS in 200X so props to the writer for making everything both cohesive and making me give a damn about those monstrous pets.

completely forgot to throw this into my bookmarks so I could return to it a few months ago, but lo and behold, fate allowed me to find this gem once again thank the lords. this is everything i've ever wanted out of a svsss fiction, and though i like shen yuan just fine, shen jiu holds a very close part in my heart from the svsss series. there's so many fics where he's become the star, but one where he has to deal with the aftermath in the original pidw are the ones i covet with all my heart and soul - to be fair, any fics taking place in pidw are the ones i really, really enjoy. i mean, lb and sy are cute, but lb and sj holds so. much. potential!! also, this fic reminded me that i really like the enemies-to-lovers trope if done right, and this one is done fantastically. the world of pidw becomes real, lb and sj's twisted relationship becomes some semblance of a healthy romantically-charged one, and it's all in character(!!!) extra points for the ladies of pidw, nyy's cameo, and good ol power play.
tldr; *very* good fic taking place in pidw with spot-on characterization, drawn-out sexual tension, and excellent world-building.
