Summary
Little is expected of Prince Viktor Targaryen. Scrawny and bookish, he is sent to the Citadel to earn his maester's chain. When his father, King Maekar, ascends to the Iron Throne, it puts Viktor second in the line of succession. The renowned and devout Ser Jayce Talis is sent to bring Viktor home to the Red Keep, where their bond grows beyond what is acceptable for a knight and his prince.
This bond is tested as Viktor's ambition grows. He is the blood of the dragon, and dragons must burn.

Summary
Jayce blames everything – the unhelpful interest, the obsessive observation, the scribbling in his notebook; the memorizing and cataloguing and compartmentalizing – on Viktor being… Viktor. An enigma. A game of chess against someone so much smarter. A whole universe of unknown stars hidden behind an accented voice, eccentricities and unexplained habits. Because that’s what Viktor is, in the end – silently challenging and unperceived and an unresolved force of nature. As a scientist, Jayce cannot sit by and let a seemingly unsolvable conundrum with countless unknown variables be.

At first, all Jayce can make out is silver, where there should be navy blue. The stranger wears a suit made entirely of metal, deeply imposing, even with the bars between them. There’s a noise from behind them, a whirring sound, and Jayce watches as a claw extends from their back, spinning menacingly. Their face is hidden behind a mask of metal, giving nothing away; all Jayce can see are piercing, glowing yellow eyes, trained solely on him.
“Mr. Talis,” a deep, robotic voice drones, echoing off the prison walls. “You are going to be coming with me.”

After his experimentation leads to the death of a teenager, Jayce is imprisoned in Stillwater Hold. Seven years later, his sentence ends early.

On a new line she instead writes in big bold letters:

Jayce loves Viktor, with every fibre of his undead, dormant heart.
Brittle and dying, with everything in him. But Viktor doesn't know, can't ever know. For what lies behind those hazel eyes he has grown so fond of, is horror beyond measure.
Jayce Talis isn't truly in his twenties - hasn't been for over hundred years.
Death walks with him in every breath Jayce has to fake in order to seem normal to humans.
He never planned to fall in love. Never wanted to turn a living soul. Yet, here they are countless decades later, at the end of the world: two doomed souls yet remaining.
Vampire-love isn't easy, just as dying and being reborn will take its toll.
Living in death together doesn't come natural to them, yet their souls are so desperately interwoven, so attuned to each other, that nothing could ever separate them.
That is until one day something disrupts their eternal routine, deep down below the crumbling city of Edinburgh.
Will it tear them apart, or will they find a way to face this challenge as well, once again, as partners?
