Near the end of her junior year in high school she is assigned a new lab partner in biology. Dave Strider is new in town and Rose begins to think he is more than what he lets on.

The Kingdom of Skaia is an oppressive hegemony. Most of its eligible men are fed to a constant war against the distant Republic of Alternia. Then, there's Dave Strider, one of two Lalonde Press heirs. Despite his wealth, he prefers his job as the late-night variety radio host at Skaia Central Station. When he's not obsessively cataloging and collecting new music, he's using one of Lalonde Press' old backrooms to print and distribute illicit anti-imperial materials.

That said, you are a person of restraint. There is no need to sit on your hands because your hands aren’t grasping towards anything in the first place, and are perfectly fine staying right where they are. You have self-control, damnit.
But acting out in reality is very different from fiction and Dave Strider is writhing on your couch again, his cast sandwiched between his thighs as he tries to win a war against his bladder.
There’s movement in the corner of your eye and you witness him lurch into the pillow, cramming it deeper with a louder, resounding whine. It's official, there is no god. Not on your side at least. This is torture and you hate yourself.

He raised the gun barrel to Peter's forehead, sweat dripping down his nose and face.
"Do it," the man threatened with a deep, raspy voice, sputtering wetly with each word he spoke. Peter grimaced away from him, even if it was only a hair's difference. Not much leg room when you were tied to a chair and there was a guy threatening you with a gun.
"Do what?" Curse that Spider-Man instinct in him to act stupidly in times of danger. Maybe Tony was right about those therapy sessions.
The man, who obviously did not like Peter's snark (Rude!), hit him in the head with the grip of the gun against his forehead, causing Peter to suck in a pained breath. "Call for help."
Peter gulped. "What?"
"You heard me. Call. For. Help."
"…"
"…"
"Okay, okay. HEL--" Hacking wheezes ensued.

"Please come in." Miss Potts smiled. She didn't look like someone who was about to sue you for thousands of dollars. Maybe he needed to stop assuming things about people, Peter thought when he discovered with horror Tony Stark, sitting in an expensive rotating chair, turning his back to them, looking at New York, the city expanding for miles and miles.
Under other circumstances, Peter would have loved to meet the man, he realized now that he was sitting in front of the genius, cheeks red with embarrassment. He wished he could ask him questions, he wished he could understand who he was when he wasn't in his 'Tony Stark attitude.' Because Peter was sure, the man was not the narcissistic he showed to the world. Not when he had almost died protecting New York from aliens.
Some people said he was only trying to save his own butt -his father said that- but Peter didn't believe so.Or, Peter never had a good relationship with his family, and probably never would. His father was too mean, too violent, a racist, a drinker, the first to hate mutant people, and never the last to raise his hand on his son. All Peter ever wanted was to get away. So when Tony Stark offers him an internship, Peter jumps on the occasion.
