Summary
He focuses on her voice over the pain and rapidly dwindling oxygen. It sounds like she’s walking as she speaks—he can hear her footsteps. She says he’s earned his freedom. More than that, he’s a hero. She tells him it’s a good day: for humanity, for him. He wants to believe her.
The footsteps stop. A moment of silence, and then—“Why isn’t he out yet?”
OR
Simon gets the data. True her word, Ava pulls him out. It’s not necessarily over after that.

Summary
The right words normally get lost in translation, between Yoo Joonghyuk and Kim Dokja.
Kim Dokja’s younger self had acted in the only way he knew how- by offering himself up. If there’s one thing that he knows at both 15 and 28, it is that not even death wants him.
For Yoo Joonghyuk, a man mercilessly wanted by life, it makes little sense. Regardless of his say in the matter, he has always been forced to live on. So, how can he reach a companion that dances with death as easily as he breathes?

He pushed his bedroom door open.
"I like how that has never been his name and yet everybody knows who the fuck you mean instantly."
He pulled his bedroom door closed.
Heart thundering in his ears, Ichigo stared at his own hand on the door handle. Was there really -- no. A hallucination. Maybe Gamuza had kicked a piece of rebar in his direction on accident and now he was in a coma or something. They were rushing him to the hospital right now. Desperate to save him before his brains leaked all the way out. Yeah, that sounded better.
He pushed his door open again, just a crack.
"You close that in my face again and we're gonna have a problem," notorious supervillain Pantera mused, propped up on one elbow on Ichigo's bed.

Meaning anything but another Quincy.) But Masaki's soulmate is the wrong sort (oh, so much of that), so she greets Ichigo's arrival in their own little clinic, protected by no barriers but the basic ones she put on their house, against prowling hollows.
Isshin cleans mucus out of little Ichigo's mouth, hands trembling, and looks up at her with eyes overbright with tears.
Masaki stares back, dumb with exhaustion.
Over her husband's shoulder there's a white-masked maw.

Summary
The land of Gemeinplatz is a land filled with fantastical creatures, adventurers looking to slay them, and heroes looking to distinguish themselves from the adventurers. The most common of these heroes are those who come from Earth, who enjoy a most leisurely time with their cheat skills. It’s a perfect world, the utopia of those who wish to become overpowered and get their own power fantasy, where even the most everyman of the everyman can pull themselves by their bootstraps and become a hero.
To satisfy the needs of heroes who can’t find function like a normal human being (which most of them can’t), the lucrative Gemeinplatz slave trade crushes the dreams and ruins the lives of hundreds every day. These slaves endlessly labor, in the harems of so-called heroes, at the mansions of the landowning “heroes”, and as rare materials for various dubious magical spells.
In a world that looks down at them as demi-human, where the ruling class has no incentive to end this profitable trade, in which their oppressors are overpowered as all hell, what hope is there for the slaves?
What hope is there, is named John Brown. This time, he’ll finish what he started.

Summary
There are silver streaks in Kurosaki’s hair. His expression isn’t set in the permanent frown Grimmjow’s used to—he’s not wearing much of an expression at all, face blank in a studied manner—but there are still faint lines on his forehead and softer, sweeter crinkles at the corners of his eyes and mouth. He’s broader in the shoulders and chest, and the lines of his body have softened.
This isn’t the boy he left behind.
“You’re old,” Grimmjow hears himself say.
Kurosaki’s careful non-expression breaks open into a crooked smile. His eyes glitter; they, at least, are that familiar warm brown, which soothes Grimmjow in a way he’s not keen on acknowledging.
“Older,” Kurosaki says. “And immortal ghost twunks don’t get to talk about my age.”
