Vast Ashallow Cadere has lost four partners in as many years working for Obelisk, and all of them have been his fault. It's understandable, in a job as dangerous as his, working to restrain criminals in a world where abilities are as common for people to have as hearts and lungs. This time, he swears it'll be different- this time, he's not going to get attached, he's going to keep them alive and safe.
Rune Serpenhold Ventura is looking forward to his new work at the ECDC section of Obelisk, and more than anything, he's determined to do his best, both at his job and at getting his new, offstandish partner to open up. Unfortunately, his intentionally suppressed clairvoyance is beginning to resurface, and he's not liking what he's seeing in the sparks- and there's nothing he can do to change it.

The auras muttered tired words, asking if he was going to bed yet, If Aax and Caspian were back yet.
Another asked if he'd be going to Starbarks again, mostly a joke, but one clouded by the exhaustion of staying up.
And frankly, the idea sounded appealing.
No matter how much of a joke it was.
Probably the first thing that did.
(or, Rae, unwilling to sleep, sets about on hanging out in starbarks, sure he wont be caught with the late hour, but fortunatly, luck isn't on his side (depends who you ask(maybe give him just a second and he'll change his answer too))

Rae has been serving in the court of the End Kingdom for eight years, with no easy way out. So he keeps his head down, focusing on his research and avoiding court when he can. When a spy from the Overworld gets caught, something in him awakens. Slowly, he learns to trust this stranger, and he begins to think that maybe, just maybe, he can have a life outside these walls.
TLDR: Fable fantasy medieval au with magic, political struggles, lots of self-doubts, and questioning moralities.
