Summary
Upon further investigation, there were similar prints just out of sight of Legend's sleeping spot within the cave. The outline of a child's hand rested, cold and ashen, just where someone would plant it in order to peek into the cave. The footprints vanished in similar fashion to the ones before, disappearing into thin air with nowhere to go.
The feeling of eyes didn't leave him the whole day, or into the night as he set up across from the tunnel once again. It was a little easier to relax, though, now that he knew what it was. It wasn't some monster, too smart to attack him but too stubborn to leave, or a mountain resident, waiting to see what they could steal from him.
It was a ghost. Legend could deal with a ghost.
Or: Legend meets someone who is not a ghost. Twice.

“He doesn’t want us touching him,” Warriors said, gesturing over at the lump of blankets where the new Link was curled up. “Wouldn’t let me carry him away from the fire even though he was overwhelmed by the people.”
“This is addin’ up in a way I don’t like much,” Twilight said. “I know he’s a Link, but…” This seemed like a lot of trouble for someone so small, someone who hadn’t been on any adventures yet.
Legend stepped forward, looking angry at nothing in particular. “When I carried him to camp, I noticed how light he was. He said he’d gone into our camp because he was looking for food. He might be from around here, but that alone raises some questions. What was a kid his age doing, travelling in the woods, alone, with no food stores and no weapon?”
OR:
Link is lost, confused, and scared. There's no way he's gonna trust these weird warriors, even if they don't seem like they want to hurt him.
The chain wants to help this new little hero. And if they find their missing healer on the way, well... so much the better!

The Doctor's heart was pounding. Louis had not ever heard someone sound so afraid before, but Louis could not think of why. Could not think of the blood on Owen's front, the red staining his teeth as he hissed a deep guttural growl at the Doctor, pale and ill looking and trembling with leashed violence.
"Owen," Legundo said, still gingerly kneeling, holding both his hands up and releasing Louis to do so. Louis was too tired after his previous struggle to reach Owen, could not take advantage and go to his love like he wished, but he called instead. A high pleading chirp that had Legundo flinching, although he did not turn to stare at Louis like he had before. He, like Louis, was not taking his eyes off Owen.
Owen, who was across the room from them. Surely if this was a dream, Owen would come here, he would not leave Louis cold and alone and hurting.
"Owen, I am not hurting him, please—"
"You're not leaving this place alive, Doctor. You've made a mistake, coming here, you and Avid both."

Erasure.
“Stop- Stop!” Avid cries, but he knows it’s useless. It’s too late.
Owen just looks at him, with dark eyes, and the stake sinks through his chest.
And-
And…
There’s a voice, something distant and feminine. Powerful.
“It’s not your time. Not yet.”
And he’s gone.
