Summary
Cas falls in stages. He likes some of them better than others, these pieces of the life he shares with Dean, where they hunt together and eat together and sleep together and weather the apocalypse together. Of all the things he could choose to do with his newfound free will, this is the thing he wants more than anything. Sometimes, it almost seems like everything is okay, even though the world is ending. Some days, he’s almost happy.
By the time 2014 rolls around, though, Cas is essentially living two lives: one where he’s drunk or high or both, and another where he’s regrettably neither. It’s almost familiar, the way he's fighting a war on two fronts, but this time one is against the world and the other is just against himself. Doesn’t matter which war you ask about, though. Fact of the matter is, he’s losing.

Logan pinches the bridge of his nose. If only he wasn't out of whiskey.
"Besides, you love how it makes my calves look.”
Logan glances down to watch said legs as Wade turns to deposit the bags on the counter without thinking.
He pretends he's wrong.

Too fucking many, Wade thinks. The table is cool against his skin, and the fork embedded in his hand throbs with a pulsing heat. He thinks he might just stay here for a while, see how the universe kills him like this. Knowing his luck, someone would walk right up and take Logan’s head off, and then he’d have to watch him die, again.
Wade loves movies that fuck with time – Days of Future Past is genuinely his favourite X-Men film – but God did it fucking suck to live through one.

How they were going to find a single USB stick half the size of Logan’s nutsack he had no fucking idea, but first they had to avoid detection, and that might prove more difficult because Wade was not made for high society.
He cuts into conversations, eats so many Hors d’Oeuvres Logan thinks he might be sick, actually laughs when he sees a little bowl of caviar with a little spoon to serve with. He slurps the tiny balls off the spoon before putting the spoon back, and Logan’s going to pop a fucking aneurysm.
