Summary
When summer break hits, the hero course students all go off to special training camp of classified location to prepare and protect them from potential villain attacks. Unfortunately for Shinsou, they're not the only ones who caught the eye of the League of Villains - and he doesn't have a personal pro-hero protection detail.
From there, things only escalate - not just with the League of Villains, but also the burgeoning student-mentor relationship Shinsou has with Aizawa that he is so desperately trying not to screw up, and the rollercoaster of kidnapping, homelessness, and burgeoning family relationships that his day-to-day life is about to embark on. Shinsou never expected that his bid for the hero course would lead to all of this, but all he can really do is strap in and do his best.

Summary
Shinsou Hitoshi finds reprieve on roof tops. He doesn't know why, but something about being up so high makes him feel safer, like he's on another plane of reality where only he exists. Like nothing can touch him from below.
He should probably find a different spot to think though. People keep catching him up here and it's starting to get annoying.
Except, maybe it's not. Maybe he's beginning to prefer the company, feeling like part of a whole rather than an isolated figure squinting in the dark and trying to find something he is blind to. Maybe he's beginning to find comfort in companionship.

Summary
Why was it, Shinsou thought as his lungs burned in his chest and his feet skid on the ground as he turned a sharp corner, that even when things got better, they also got so much worse?
Hitoshi's life had taken an impossible turn for the better lately -- drastically so. Unbelievably so. He wasn't sure he could trust the fickle solidity he found in his recent companions, but that didn't mean he wouldn't try. Things had been getting better.
Except for the fact that three of his notoriously cruel classmates followed him outside school today and were currently chasing him down the back alleys of their crime-haunted city. He thought he could lose them on the roof, he really did.
When a pro hero shows up to save the day, he almost wishes one hadn't. There's no way Hitoshi could get out of this unscathed or in the clear. Heroes didn't trust Hitoshi, not with a quirk like his. Why would today be any different?

Izuku was bitter.
He was bitter at the world that told him he would never be enough. At his peers for torturing him for years and at the teachers that did nothing about it. At his mother for being unable to love him without also pitying him. Izuku was nearing the end of his rope.
Usually when he imagined it, Izuku was in some kind of accident. He was killed by a villain for being in the "wrong place" at the "wrong time". Or maybe he was hit by a car going ten km/h over the speed limit. Or maybe he tripped and fell into oncoming traffic or he didn't realize the train was coming so quickly or he fell out of a tree from a height so tall he couldn't recover or maybe --
Maybe he slipped off a roof.
So, when Bakugou told him to find a quirk in his next life by taking a fucking swan dive, Izuku let the bitterness win.
Or he was going to, up until a strange boy taught him to use caution when taking advice.

But now that you’ve pushed my buttons enough, I’m sure you’re ready to hear what kind of predicament we’re actually in.” His tone is low, something below even the usual Yamada Hizashi. He hopes it convinces Shinsou to take his words seriously. “Sit down with me. And don’t worry about anyone coming through that door, I don’t expect them to for a while, because their concern isn’t actually with us.”
The two of them sit in their usual spots, legs criss-crossed beneath them with arms crossed over one another for warmth. Hizashi watches the tremors that wrack Shinsou’s body match his own. The temperature in the room is dropping- and quick.
“Whoever did this is much more concerned with getting their hands on Eraserhead. We’re just the bait. And the fact that neither of us are tied up or muzzled tells me that we must be the least intimidating bait on the planet to them.”
