Amy loves Sonic, she always had. And as far as she could tell she always will. Even after all these years she still loves him. When she’d make a move on him but he would brush it off or ignore it. She still loves him. When he flat out rejected her. She still loves him. When Sonic started dating Shadow. She still loves him. Even when they got married. She still loves him. Over the many years she still held onto that love. Of course Amy tried to get over him, many times in fact. But she could never shake her feelings for him. Now she is sitting in a home that wasn't hers watching a baby that she was not the mother to. But what if...what if she could be. Just for a little while, no one had to know.

Shadow, adult Rouge the Bat, and Ivo form Team Dark. Ivo, newly rebranded in his own mind as the superior evolution of the Robotnik line, positions himself as leader. Not because they vote on it. Because he says so.
He attempts to conquer the world using the Eclipse Cannon aboard the Space Colony ARK, powered by the Chaos Emeralds. To Ivo, it’s poetic: Gerald’s dream weapon, upgraded by the grandson no 1 bothered to idolize.
Shadow’s good counterpart, Sonic the Hedgehog, pursues them out of stubborn faith that Shadow can still choose differently.
Shadow believes he’s destined to avenge Maria. But when the memory of Maria Robotnik’s true wish resurfaces, he realizes the truth. He sacrifices himself to stop the ARK from crashing into Earth.
And this is where the real-world problem begins.
When SEGA, portrayed in mythic terms as distant cosmic arbiters of canon, “revives” Shadow in 2003 due to overwhelming fan demand, it doesn’t restore his image. It complicates it.
The 2nd Team Dark forms: Shadow, Rouge, and E-123 Omega.
They operate efficiently, but under a microscope.
In 2005, Shadow confronts the Black Arms invasion, led by his half-father Black Doom.

Shadow may have moved on from the events of Space Colony ARK, but now he has to learn how to live beneath the haunting spectre of White Space.
Still reeling from the recent loss of Maria and Gerald, Shadow finds himself back in Central City, resuming his work as a G.U.N. agent to distract himself from his grief. But G.U.N. is suffering from a public image crisis, and their actions force Shadow to reckon with his past once again. In their desperation, G.U.N. asks him to work alongside the Central City Children’s Hospital to help sick children.
This PR stunt was obviously designed to exploit Shadow's past and invoke Maria's memory, and Shadow knows it. But despite his anger and misgivings, he realises that the hospital program would finally give him a second chance to fulfil his intended purpose as a cure. He can't ignore the risk that his efforts might help G.U.N. whitewash their past actions ... but this opportunity could also help him find a new way to fight for the world that Maria loved.
