Sonic was doing just fine! Sure, he was a werebeast, and sure there was a pretty bad stigma surrounding his kind, but he has it down! No one remembers the Werehog Aspect of the Dark Gaia Incident except for Chip, who was currently trapped underground, so it's all fine.
Sticks had been setting traps, and Rouge was maybe a little suspicious, but really, he had it under-wraps!
Of course someone had to call Animal Control. Of course it had to fall apart.

Sonic's lips slowly broke into a wide smile. He took a step forward, making the black hedgehog take one back. He raised his hands, hoping to keep the blue menace away. Shadow felt his heart jump as Sonic's smile turned into a devilish smirk. Oh boy.
"Sonic!"
The blue speedster's arms widened as he took one more step, and Shadow yelped as he was engulfed in a water logged bear hug. He flailed and kicked his boyfriend, much to the other's amusement.
"Goddamnit, you're sleeping on the couch!"
Or: Shadow, Sonic, Rouge, and Tails go to the beach to have some fun!

Sonic lets out a satisfied hum as their lips are connected, eyes slipping closed. Shadows hands are kept at Sonic’s thighs. They’re lost in their own world, passionately moving against each other. Sonic is still straddled across Shadows lap.
Then, it’s shattered.
Because oh shit, oh fuck, oh no. The door is slammed open on purpose. It’s loud, startling Sonic and Shadow both. Sonic yelps and jumps up, still sat on Shadows lap. His gaze whips over at the door and it instantly meets with Tom’s.
“D-Dad!” Sonic yelps.

Shadow’s legs move before he can stop them, barely closing the door behind him as he rushes over, kneeling in front of Sonic to be eye level with him.
He can smell a change in Sonic’s normal heart rate. His heart is racing, even more so than it usually is.
The change in scent sends signals to Shadow’s mind; old, instinctual ones. Ones he hasn’t had in a long time.
HELP HIM! his mind screams. HE’S GOING TO FAINT! ALERT HIM!
He shakes his head, mentally. Sonic doesn’t faint; at least, not that he’s seen.
Sonic’s not Maria.
And this isn’t a medical episode (to his knowledge); it’s a panic attack.
Although, Maria had had a lot of those, too.
