The sky is empty and dark in a permanent overcast, the day and night cycle is a mere memory. Three groups of ponies gather across Equestria as the landscape and ponies alike are rocked by the sudden shift. Hope dwindles, the air grows cold. The last few sparks of hope throughout the land are being preyed on and snuffed out.
The infection could be the end, but it's also the last of their problems. The heroes they plead for are nowhere to be found. The population dwindling and the forces of nature closing in, Twilight, at the very least, strives to find some way to reverse all of this.

Dream Wave, a pegasus from Cloudsdale, enjoys spending his off-time going to dance parties with friends. He was on duty with the weather team, when he went to chase down an errant storm cloud. Unfortunately, said storm cloud was particularly testy, and zapped the young pegasus, sending him tumbling down
Ember Forge is an Earth pony, originally from Appleloosa before moving to Ponyville. He has a small business collecting ore from a nearby quarry, which he then smelts and works into various metal products for Ponyville such as nails, horseshoes, various tools, etc. His life changed when a pegasus named Dream Wave had an "unscheduled landing" close by to where he was mining.
With a broken wing, Dream Wave had no choice but to stay grounded while he healed. After several months of close proximity, the two ended up becoming fast friends. Once healed, Dream Wave invited the more reserved Ember Forge to go to a celebratory dance party, which he'd accepted. Eventually, after several outings together exploring each other's hobbies, the two had realized they'd developed more intimate feelings for each other. Now, with the Everfree Infection on the rise, the two rarely leave the other's side for any longer than needed...
