Buck was silent for a minute, opening and closing his mouth several times before finally finding his bearings. “You wanna know why I can’t just ‘suck it up?’” Buck spit, eyes full of something dark as he stared at his best friend.

Checking the wards on the other rooms passed without incident. Once they'd found that 'too high, too low, just right' pattern where their combined privacy wards failed to intersect, correcting it was a simple matter.
A small expenditure of power from the both of them, Alastor walking into the hall or neighbouring rooms to see if even his sensitive hearing could pick up on the sounds of drumming from within – Lucifer had summoned a drum kit, of course he had. Said it was the only way to make sure – and they were satisfied that the oversight had been fixed.
Though each of them had only used a wisp of power in their repairs, the combined efforts of doing so on repeat seemed to have left Alastor with a new, burgeoning headache – and Lucifer with darker than usual purple stains on his lower lids.
