In other words: The Yellowjackets teen timeline: She-ra edition that nobody asked for but I really wanted.

She could still feel the way Adora had taken her hands and gently rubbed over the ridges with her thumb. The way she looked so deep into Catra’s mismatched eyes.
“But you’re my best friend. My everything. The only one who’s been there through it all.”
Catra had managed some sort of sweet nothing in reply, but was deeply shaken. Even now, in the backseat of Scorpia’s car, the words still rotated through her skull.
“My everything.”

Adora is a lifeguard at an old rec center in the city of Eternia; it's far from what she planned for her life to be like at age 27. She used to be a swimmer on her college team, but that... didn't pan out. (Because of reasons.) But she keeps on going, pushing down her lingering feelings and trying to fake-it-til-you-make-it into some kind of satisfaction with her life.
Until she meets Catra, a woman with a lifelong fear of water who shows up at her rec center for swimming lessons. There's no denying there's something else in the water when Catra's around, and from there, everything is immediately different.
(AKA, slow burn Catradora goodness, eventual smut, angst later on, and a whole lot of love.)

“Adora, this is Catra. Catra, this is Adora.” The principal pauses for a moment, then proceeds. “You are in good hands, Catra. Adora here is our student council president and the captain of the football team.”
Adora is completely zoned out during Angella’s conversation with Catra. As Angella informs Catra about the rest of the school rules and expectations…
“Catra,” Adora unintentionally whispered. She frantically looks up, scanning the room for any sign that suggested they heard her. She stopped fidgeting with her hands after seeing them still involved in their separate conversation. Adora zoned out once more, thinking about what she just did. Deep down she knows why she did it.
She wants to know how it feels. How it feels to say it before anyone else even learns her name. How the name Catra feels as it leaves her lips. How addicting the nauseating, tingly feels at the pit of her stomach. How unworthy she feels when she says it. And how much she wants to do it again.

Many short, mostly discontinuous scenes encompassing before, during and after the canonical series. The scenes are arranged into themed acts, and in chronological order. Before the story will be a preface, detailing the layout of the story, and a skeleton timeline.
This is essentially a story about losing control. It is Catra-centric, bittersweet in general tone, and there are consistently several narrative threads running at once (i.e. keeping track of the story requires some brain space).
I would say it's a 20:70:10 split of fluff : angst : other.

Adora was very familiar with shame.
She remembers just sitting at the table with her head down, while Adam and their father talked about his batting skills, while her mother swept up the glass carefully and thoroughly. She felt terrible for days after, but once Adam joined T-ball and started getting better with his aim, It was comforting to know there was a silver lining for him.
Now? This time it was just Adora, and there was no silver lining for her.
That, and accidentally breaking a window is very different than your catholic parents walking in on you asleep with a girl, both of your clothes gone.
OR; Adora accidentally get outed so her parents send her to live with her Aunt Mara's in hopes to fix her and it doesn't go as planned.

It was equipped to learn from every encounter, out-think any enemy forces or resistance it encountered, and issue orders without a trace of doubt. It had taken the best programming engineers of the Eternians ten years to craft every line of its code to perfection.
And it was found wanting long before it made planetfall.
