Lovely story, as Rotrude's always are. Lots of research here, into helicopter flying and field medicine (so much so that I must admit that I occassionally skimmed the details.) Merlin's a very self-confident, talented and extordinarily brave doctor. Arthur and he, after a rocky start, fall for each other rather quickly, but then it falls apart again once both of them come frighteningly close to losing their lives, and Merlin breaks it off to protect his heart (idiot). The work it out, of course, but there's an angsty uncomfortalbe bit for a while. Meanwhile, Uther thinks Arthur ought to retire and settle down to being a good little (safe) prince... .

Alright, you'll definitely lol through this. It starts with Steve meeting Bucky as a badass Army sergeant on leave who slides right into the Chitauri battle and starts taking names and kicking ass. (Steve pretty much chokes on his tongue. So does Clint, who basically immediately wants to have Hot Bandana Guy's babies.) BUT... Steve fucks up and accidentally gets Sergeant Barnes fired. Oops. Once they finally pull him into the Avengers, things are still pretty aggressive between them, and even once they begin fucking they're still pretty much always hurling creative (funny) insults at each other.
Time goes on. They accidentally out themselves on national TV. Steve tries a break-up (it lasts for 3 days and leaves both of them miserable). Bucky gets kinda accidentally turned into a bundle of cat-instincts. AlternaSteve shows up from a different universe. The funniest fucking hate-fuck I've ever read happens (even though the hate is for AlternaSteve and his puppy-dog staring and the fucking is between Steve and Bucky). Bucky gets kidnapped by Hydra -- and makes them look like idiots. AlternaSteve gets sent back to his own universe by Tony (who uses a universal remote).
Enter Deadpool (who is just as much a hoot as everyone else), hired to ice and/or kidnap Bucky, because (dun dun dun!) 'someone' is after him to turn him into a weapon. (They should have asked AlternaSteve a little more about that Chair.)
Fantastic story, fun and fast-paced and yet still meaningful and plotty. Go for it.
*** Sequel is just as good, although much more serious and a little darker. It has its own bookmark, so go read that....

Fantastic story in which John gets 'punished' by a local consortium by being put in a box that makes parts of his life that were questionably unsafe more or less entirely unsafe. So Rodney has to go back to each episode to make sure he doesn't die. When he's five, and seven and ten, and twelve, and twelve, and twelve (he had a very unsafe year). So John starts to get to know his strange adult rescuer, even when he doesn't see him for years. And Rodney worries, of course, that he won't manage a save and then everything in his present will fall apart. Meanwhile, John (even when he's jailbait) starts wondering what if he and Rodney... and Rodney says they aren't that way, b/c John isn't gay, and John has to laugh, because, well, he would know, wouldn't he....
Well, they've got a lot to work out.
A fascinating concept and very, very well written.

Wangxianficrecs post here. (Archived.)Oh, wow, this hits harder than I expected. Wwx gets possessed by a skin-stealer, and it's truly horrifying. Every direction he tries to turn to fight it off fails, and he's kind of being eaten alive, and he can't tell lwj for Reasons. He gets totally boxed in, and it really had me on the edge of my seat.
Author says, "I'm a big fan of horror that takes genuine, deep-rooted, emotional fears and builds the story around those. So that's what I'm going for here." And yep, they succeeded.

They leave trauma behind them, and have no desire for a return trip, so they're gonna stay here and fix some things. The only person they reveal the full story to is Nie Huaisang, because they know he is a very big-picture planner, which neither of them really is.
Very satisfying! Part 2 is a lovely bit of porn with feelings (in which wwx tops with a lovingly purchased strap-on, but lwj is still very toppy from the bottom). Part 3 strikes a darker note, where wwx struggles with an intense bout of depression during the winter months, when for the first time in many, many years, he has slowed down enough to be faced with all his losses and trauma... and the inherent contradiction in many of them no longer having happened. There's a lot of doting!lwj and emotional hurt/comfort in this one.

He has imprints of the possessions he's been through if not the possessions themselves, even now. He has a magical mentor (Ethan Rayne), solid friendships even as his older ones falter (Tara, Dawn, Anya, Spike. . .), and he has a goal and a smitten heart.
Unfortunately the faltering friendships are not the least of his problems right now, as the Initiative reborn (as the Demon Action Response Team) are making inroads into Sunnydale under a familiar face (if only they can uncover it). . .
