Fictober Day 10 - "It's my name on the line."
“Do you know what I am risking every day to keep this experiment alive?” Waverly says, as soon as Gaby, Illya, and Napoleon sat at his office desks.
“It’s my name on the line, my reputation”, he continues, “That’s keeping you here, in the comforts of a supporting team who lets you do anything you want. And all I’m asking you is just a little bit more discretion while on a mission”.
“Aren’t we discrete?” Gaby says smiling. Smile that immediately fades as she meets Waverly’s angry gaze.
“You have destroyed a warehouse and a ballroom”. The man states.
“As if we didn’t do the same in Rome, and yet you decided to hire us”. Napoleon says, his usual smirk on.
Waverly keeps on looking sternly at them.
“It is necessary collateral damage. But we will try to maintain a lower profile”. Illya says.
“Thank you, Mr. Kuryakin. I just want you to try, I know that while on a mission there may be accidents and unexpected events, all I’m asking is that you consider the cleanest solution first. We operate above other agencies and we need to keep a higher level of secrecy. Can you promise me to at least try?”
“Yessir.” They all reply.
Waverly shakes his head, but continues: “Alright, then let’s talk about the next mission.”
After the meeting ends, the team gets out of Waverly’s office.
“Seems like a mission that requires a Level 4 Destruction?” Napoleon says smirking.
“Oh yes,” Illya says, high-fiving his partners.
