“I… think a sequined man in a mesh shirt inducted me into a cult.” Leo recalls as clearly as he can. Camilla raises an eyebrow at him.
“Good for you,” she sips her tea. “You broaden those horizons, little man.”

Summary
Stahl is beaten worse than Henry. Well. Henry has been tortured and Stahl has been beaten. The line between the two is fine. Intent, Henry decides, is the tipping point. People dole out a beating when they’re angry, as a personal relief. Torture is more methodical. It’s designed to haunt you. Henry would know, he’s a haunting kind of guy. Still, there’s no denying that physically Stahl has suffered more extensive injuries. A little unfairly too, Henry thinks, given how very nicely he’s asked their captor to step it up already. Stahl doesn’t seem to be getting as much out of it as Henry would be. Shame, that.

Flying back to Cherry Street, weaving reckless in the dark, it comes down to this: Dick is the only one of his siblings that Jason has any real claim on. Dick is the only one of that whole mess of victims to Batman's cult of self-immolation who belongs to Jason. Even more than that - Dick is the only person in the world who he shares a parent with, who knows what it meant to be the Robin to Batman of nearly ten years ago.
It's just not the same anymore.
So if Dick fucking kicks it, Jason's the only one left. Jason becomes an only child. Jason becomes the last of his kind. “Are we going to climb back up?” Damian asks, testing his bounds.
“No, Damian,” she says, and starts off walking, forcing him to come after her as the rope tugs taut.
“Are we doing another survivalist exercise?”
“No,” she says. The air clouds with the word, just for a moment. “There shouldn’t be any crevasses, but if I start to fall, cut your rope immediately. Understood?”
“Then I can’t stop your fall,” he argues. She gives him a look, just the briefest glance over her shoulder. “Understood.” They crunch on for a minute. “Navigation, then?”
“No.”
“Exercise or test?” he asks.
“Neither.” They crunch on for a moment. “You should think of saving your breath, it’s a long way down.”
That’s not an order, however, so he’s free to push. “So we’re leaving Kohe Hevad.” She doesn’t reply. Damian squirms for a moment, but there’s no way to turn his question into a guess, cut off its open end. “Where are we going?”
“Gotham.”

Damian pulls out his phone and dials Richard’s number- his chauffeur has been unfortunately painstakingly instructed to answer no calls whatsoever from Damian, and Alfred has begun to pretend that phones do not exist during school hours. Unsurprisingly, as it is eight in the morning, it goes to voicemail. Damian waits impatiently for the beep. “Richard,” he says, in tones of the deeply suffering, “this place is a hostile environment. I must be collected post-haste, as after this latest indignity I am dropping out. Come at once, or I may die here.”
The dynamic duo attend a parent-teacher conference. No one has a good day.
