“I’m…. I don’t think I am a man,” Shane breathed before clarifying, “no, that’s- I’m not a man. Nor have I ever really…felt like one.”
Shane sighed a breath he wasn’t aware he had been holding. That was the first time he had ever admitted that to himself, not even daring to think of it. He could hear his heartbeat pumping fast; if he hadn’t been so occupied watching Ilya's reaction, he would have been worried about passing out.
He watched as Ilya’s baby-blue eyes widened and jaw dropped slightly. He blinked a few times before breathing in and nodding.
“Okay,” Ilya said after a moment, in a voice so gentle even he didn’t know his vocal cords could make, he walked slowly over to Shane until he was close enough to touch his nose with his own, “that’s okay, that is completely okay.”
Shane realizes after coming out to his parents that something isn't right, and that nothing has ever felt right.
