"It just works better like that. Taking his mind off of the logistics and the meaning of it all and the implications lets him put that focus to better work on the actual thing he cares about: hockey. It really isn’t that different from outsourcing his branding to Mom, or any less embarrassing than his dietician meal prepping for him or his trainer mapping out his workout plan. They’re experts in their field, nutrition and marketing and fucking. Shane is an expert in his: taking all that into his body and using it to be fucking awesome at hockey. It’s win, win, win.
Meals get delivered at his door. Room numbers and plans get texted to him. And appointments with photographers get emailed with subject lines reminding him to remember to use the good shampoo in his hair before them.
He’s still in control in the sense he’s letting it all happen for him, except that sometimes, especially at these stupid fucking photoshoots, it feels a little bit like it’s happening to him, instead."
Shane gets into a bad situation with a photographer who has pictures Shane would rather not get out. Ilya and Rose find out about it, eventually.

Summary
Silco's... not a good parent. As much as he loves his daughter, he has a few flaws when it comes to her. But he can explain it all away, from slipping drugs into her tea to keep her his perfect little girl to keeping her safe away from the world. He can even explain giving her to the Enforcers in exchange for Zaun - after all, they've given their word that Jinx is not to be harmed.
Ekko, meanwhile, went to the bridge upon overhearing the Enforcers' plans to capture Jinx on their radios - she's too far gone, and as the last person who knew Powder as well as the leader of the Firelights, it's his job to put her down.
But after rescuing her instead upon realizing Jinx is still at least a little Powder, when he learns that 'Jinx' the persona isn't real but instead a defense mechanism, upon learning about the drugs in her system and the pain and fear inflicted on her, he insists she can be saved.
And thus begins the rest of her life.
(Featuring childhood-friends-to-enemies-to-friends-to-lovers Timebomb, a complicated relationship between Jinx and Silco, genius Firelight bioengineer Jinx/Powder, and Jinx proving she's stronger and better than anyone gives her credit for.)

He steps forward and the motion is noticed by all the Council. Marcus scowls, but says nothing. Powder looks back over her shoulder as Jayce approaches, stands behind her, and places his hands on her shoulders. She stiffens, so he keeps the contact light so she does not feel trapped.
"Viktor and I will take in Powder and Ekko," Jayce announces.

Not even to mention that if she were to go, like her roommate, Kiera, convinced her to today, Jinx has the unfortunate risk of running into the smug bastard himself. With her luck the untimely entrance she’ll surely make will be just as he’s flirting with someone.
