“What. The. Fuck.” Wet ground squashed beneath his feet as Tyler dashed forward, itching to look over his shoulder yet refusing to lose seconds of the humble head start to do so.
He was running, branches hitting his shins as the cold night air whipped his sweat-matted cheeks. To his chest, he clung a girl so precious that her heart mattered to him more than his. Her body was slick too, wrapped in a bedsheet too thin for a midnight forest far north, yet it was the best he could do. They left his cabin in a hurry; Tyler was praying not to stumble over the laces of his barely tied sneakers as he dashed through the tree line with no safety yet in sight.
Behind him, utter destruction.
A beast was tracking their steps. Tall, lean, grayish skin stretched tightly over the muscle. Tuff of golden locks sat atop the monstrous head, eyes bulging, locking on its prey. It snarled at them, slashing long talons to split a tree in half.
Tyler almost stumbled. This would be a good opportunity to turn into a Hyde, he thought, to match the thread head on. But something was wrong.
He couldn’t.Because his Hyde was right at their tail.
