Finally, Ilya exhaled hard, shoulders slumping just slightly as he turned around. “I don’t like sharing you.”
“I’m not shared,” Shane said softly. “You’re my boyfriend, he is my bestfriend.”
Ilya turned back, eyes still stormy. “I see the way he looks at you. Because he looks at you the same way I look at you.”
Shane’s mouth fell open, half grinning with amusement. Did Ilya really think Hayden was in love with him?
“Ilya, Hayden has a wife and four kids, what are you talking abo-”
“How could he not?!” Ilya cut him off. “You are perfect. Perfect son, perfect hockey player, perfect boyfriend, perfect friend!” He spits out, using air quotations to exaggerate the friend part.

There aren't many people Mel gets excited to see. You could count them on one hand. Buck happens to be one of those people. A visit to see his cousin in Pittsburgh turns into Buck gaining several more friends. A week isn't enough, but Buck gains more than a stronger relationship with Mel. He gains several new friends.
