Summary
Bokuto knows who Akaashi Keiji is. Everyone knows who Akaashi Keiji is. Bokuto has never spoken to him, but that's by personal choice. He doesn't fancy making a fool of himself. When he and Kuroo get caught sneaking out past curfew by Akaashi himself, who is a fifth-year prefect, Bokuto has no choice but to speak to him.
As expected, he kind of makes a fool of himself.

“You make it sound stupider than it actually is,” Renjun groans, kicking him from under the table. In all fairness, it is stupid, very much so, but he can’t stand when his own stupidity is recognised by people that aren’t himself, Mark included. “Shut up and tell me if it’s good or not.”

Turns out that being best friends with Spiderman isn't as cool as it sounds. It comes along with even longer sleepless nights, with lips and nails anxiously bitten raw, half moons dug on thighs as a coping mechanism. And this weird, void thing in Donghyuck's chest, pitch black and cold and swallowing all his sense of self worth whenever Mark jumps out of a window to put his life at risk. And Donghyuck gets left behind, fingers peeled open almost to his knuckles.

“Do you ever wonder what it would be like, if we didn’t meet like this?” Mark asks, eyes on the yellow tinged night sky. It’s almost entirely starless; all but three half-hearted specks of light have been painted over by the city glow.
“What do you mean?” Donghyuck asks, even though he knows perfectly well what Mark means.
“Like, I dunno, if we met at university or something,” Mark says, “like normal people.”
Donghyuck’s instinctual response, which rises shamefully and acidly up his throat, is yes, yes, I wonder it all the time, I wonder if, given the chance, you’d love someone else better.
“Sometimes,” is what he says instead.

Summary
The problem with self-awareness was his intimacy with his faults. He knew all too well what it was in him that drove people away, and his internal clock felt more like a doomsday countdown to the moment he drove Jeno away too. Not just Jeno, but everyone he loved. Renjun and Jaemin and Mark too – nothing good lasted forever, and Donghyuck was too happy.
