Summary
When Sonic accidentally makes plans to both go on a date with Shadow and spend the evening with his little brother Tails on the same day, he wants to keep his promises to both of them and finds compromise. On his way to meet Shadow, Sonic stumbles upon a mysterious portal. After inspecting it, he gets sucked into it and is sent fifty years into the future. For once, it’s not Eggman who has caused the ruination of the world, but rather Sonic’s very own brother. Now it’s up to him to change the future and regain the lost trust of those who thought he was long gone.

Summary
Sonic has reached the ripe age of 50 and is now longing for another adventure. One day, he wakes up back in Camelot, but it’s not the same one he left, as no one seems to remember those events other than Sonic; and on top of it all, they all think that he is the lost king Arthur who has simply lost his memories.
Arthur’s most loyal knight Lancelot is the same age as Sonic and a single parent, who is struggling with his sudden loneliness as his son Galahad has recently moved away. Sonic is enthralled by him, since he’s something that Shadow isn’t; mortal. Given their position as king and his bodyguard, the two quickly become close, closer than their titles would suggest in fact.
Now Sonic is struggling with his new duties and expectations – ones that he didn’t really even ask for in the first place. In the midst of it all, he’s trying to keep his newly blossomed relationship a secret, while also adapting to yet another new, unexpected title; stepfather.

“You come here to fish too, Shadow?”
Shadow's quills puff up like a startled urchin. Big can't help but think about how the shape reminds him of the starfish he finds in the tidal pools on the north end. Everything's almost the same except for those shocks of red that stand out like a warning. Big learned pretty early on that bright things, especially in the water, usually mean ‘stay away’. His thicker gloves generally help him with handling all the different critters he reels in, but even he knows there's some stuff you just don't want to get too close to.
Shadow seems nice enough though. He's pretty sure the hedgehog doesn't bite either.
