“I thought you liked strawberries,” Kyouji says, watching as Satomi shifts the cold can from hand to hand, condensation clinging to his fingers.
“This kind of stuff is too sweet for me,” Satomi says. “Plus, this is just strawberry flavored.”
“Really? Should I go back to coffee next time?”
“I’m good.” He has to laugh a little bit at Satomi’s grimace. It’s cute, watching him try to act all adult, only for his childishness to inevitably shine through.

“Do you want to go to a hotel once we’re done?” Satomi had asked him in his usual dry, direct manner. It had been funny, in a way, how there’d been absolutely nothing coy about it. Somehow, it had matched the feeling of the restaurant they’d chosen for dinner. Fluorescent lights, decor 10 years out of date, laminated menus. The opposite of sexy.
Kyouji had finished chewing and answered: “Sure.”

“There. All done.” Kyouji stands, surveying his work. Satomi’s eyes follow him, lips parting soundlessly, barely comprehending what just happened.
“K-Kyouji-san,” he eventually manages. “Why…?”
“Well… Because I’m kidnapping you,” he answers brightly.

“You’re back,” Ayabe says, voice rusty from sleep, eye blinking him to wakefulness.
It’s one of those nights. He can smell it on him, still, rust and gunmetal and something more clinical. It used to scare him, guessing at what it all might mean. But the fear has faded over time, even as the questions have become certainties. Even as he’s faced grotesque reality.

Armand’s lips are warm. Daniel had always assumed he’d be cold — no, one of the few times he’d touched him, those fingers had been icy around his wrist — but his lips, tonight, are warm.
Skin on skin. Breath on his ear. A mumbled something something Daniel. Nothing’s real but those hands on his shoulders, a body pressed close as though to pin him. As if he could somehow escape.

Bringing him back to his place doesn’t mean anything in particular. It was Satomi’s idea to get takeout in the first place, and even if the little apartment he crashes in for his business trips ain’t much, it’s still better than Satomi’s cheap little student one. Kyouji’s never been inside, of course, but he’s ‘walked’ Satomi back a few times, taken a look around the building.
Not that Satomi knows that. But what he doesn’t know can’t hurt him.

The last time he’d seen him in the flesh had been that day in court, the day everything had finally come to an end. Like now, he’d been unable to look away as he’d confessed, following every little movement, every small gesture. The man who had beaten him unconscious not so many weeks ago, then, who’d screamed in his face about his betrayal and convinced him he would never be waking up again. The fear he’d expected had been surprisingly absent as he’d watched. From his seat in the back of the courtroom, Hamura had seemed small.
Nothing like the figure the man had painted in his dreams, dreams that had jolted him into consciousness and a cold sweat night after night.
