Summary
After being randomly scouted for a commercial fishing position by Ahab, a madwoman of a captain who swears she saw her in a dream, Ishmael is suspicious. However, once she learns more about it, she decides to take her up on her offer. She desperately needs a job, any job — and it helps that this particular job will get her closer to Queequeg, a beautiful girl whom she met by chance during an insomnia episode.
Queequeg is an interesting person, someone who stands out on an island where so many people try to be the same, and Ishmael wanted to fall headfirst into her world. However, as she discovers more about Ahab's motivations, she wonders if she's in for more than she bargained for.

I work off two timelines:
Timeline 1: canon, with the apprentices having been taken in at an older age right after Ryoshu left
Timeline 2: non-canon, with the apprentices having been taken in very young (basically pretending Ryoshu is older/left a longer time ago)
