oh this hurts so good. you capture the pain of claudia's & louis' slow separation so beautifully. you understand both of these characters and their love & resentment of each other in a way that is so impressive.
this entire paragraph punched me in the chest -->"Was he still Daddy Lou? Perhaps. He could never truly part with that - being a parent wasn’t something that just left you, no matter how much your kid has grown or changed or distanced themselves. But then again, he wasn’t exactly Daddy Lou either. Not in the ways it mattered. And maybe he hadn’t been for a long time, longer than he wanted to think about. He didn’t know if Claudia missed what they had once. What they had been to each other. He liked to think so, but was too afraid to ask, suspicion crawling somewhere deep inside his belly."

i've been searching high & low for this fanfic for months and i didn't even realize it!!! this was honestly one of the best portrayals of claudstat/lesclaudia that i've ever read. it's so genuine to the characters while still making the au parts of it still feel natural. this was the potential of their relationship we haven't gotten in the show. ughhh this was so well-written and really heartwarming to read :3

Whatever carefully blank expression Lestat is trying on disappears like a slap. “Armand made a fledgling. Why would he do that?” Lestat asks.
“Oh, you know,” Louis says, watching the three dots of a new text pop up. “He knew Daniel was… important to me.”
He means to say it with rueful annoyance, as if to say, “so he ruined him.” But as Daniel’s text comes in—the most important question I should have asked you in that fucking interview: where do you buy coke in Dubai?—Louis’s voice trails off, his words maybe lacking some of the bite.

Lestat misunderstands what Daniel is to Louis and tries to be a champ about it. Meanwhile Louis rediscovers his drug of choice—Lestat.

colormeparanoid? more like color me a certified loustat expert. there's so much for me to fawn over in this: the tender yearning, louis finally opening up and getting the tlc he so desperately needs, holding louis accountable for how he's hurt lestat without demonizing him or downplaying his own pain, lestat being such a loving partner who also gets his needs met, the loudan snark, and just the absolutely incredible way colormeparanoid manages to capture their voices so well. but i really reallyreally appreciate them shining a light on the aftermath of louis' trauma from his relationship with armand. so many fics put a lot of emphasis on how lestat has hurt him without acknowledging how armand has hurt him as well. they even went so far as to acknowledge the challenges louis might experience with his new vampy bff daniel pursuing his own relationship with the gremlin.
all that to say: this is incredible and i absolutely love it!!!!

A pounding at his ear drums, an aching ream of resonance singing round and round the shell of his ears. Whipping winds howling at his eyes until he can barely see, bloodied tears pooling at his lids, catching in his lashes, courting dust, dirt, debris, the smell of the Mississippi hauled outta her riverbed and up in the air, drowning him as he tries to steady his feet. He can’t vamp. Not with his hand still holding fast to the knot of Lestat’s robe, not when the hurricane would force him, them, any direction it wanted, toss them around like a cat with a muddy-shelled roach, and vaguely he realizes that he has no idea where he’s going.

Louis and Lestat leave the shack the night of the hurricane, seek refuge in a store, navigate too many memories, argue, ache, and maybe figure out the start of a way forward.

holy smokes this. . . amazing in ways that i can hardly find the words. flashindie has captured louis' and lestat's voices so well. the emotions they struggle through the together, the ways they clash but also the ways they still mesh after all these years, and just like all that juicy yearning between them. ughhh this absolutely pulverized my heart but it was totally worth reading. lesson of the day: sometimes long lost lovers find each other again in a home depot in the middle of a hurricane.

the way skvadern captures claudia's voice is sooo good! i love their exploration of her feelings about madeleine. but also of what she's feeling toward louis, armand, and the coven at this point. it feels true to what we see in the show.
thank goodness she got her girl and they lived happily ever after and nothing bad happened ever because love conquers all especially when it's happening between vampire ladies ;-;
