“Gil—” J.J. says, but Shane doesn’t want him to finish that sentence, to pull Comeau gently off the ledge he’s steering himself toward. Shane wants to push him, kicking and screaming, to make them say it to his fucking face. That after all this time, they still hate him for the heinous crime of falling in love.
“We’ve been married for two years,” Shane says. “I’m not sure that qualifies as playing house. I mean, it’s longer than you were with your first wife, isn’t it?”

“Fuck!” Shane curses and he and Ilya adjust, skating backward and keeping an eye on the puck. Ilya suddenly appears right next to Shane, tapping his arm with his stick.
“Here, baby, take mine.”
He takes the offered stick, eyes still on the puck as it’s passed to Comeau.
“What are you gonna–“ He calls out to Ilya, who immediately skates away with a shrug.
“I’ll just take JJ’s.”
“What?! Ilya, NO!”

"In here, it will be different." Shane opened his eyes to glance up at the other team captain, who sported a wicked grin on his face.
"Tonight, I remind you what it's like to work for what you want."
Ilya Rozanov does not like to lose, especially to Shane Hollander. And when the Montréal Metros crush the Boston Raiders in a humiliating 8-3 score, a certain team captain shows up at his door with a toothy grin and little too much pride in himself. So now, off the ice, it's Ilya's turn to show Shane just how fun it can be to settle a score.
