Summary
When Shane was displeased with Ilya, there was a certain intensity in his speech that called to Ilya like a siren song, dragging him to an early grave with its vehemence. His voice would pitch higher, bossy and prissy and so stridently righteous it should be intolerable.
But Ilya was, for all intents and purposes, a whore. And nothing made him harder than his husband putting him in his place.

Summary
What should a wife be to a husband? What should a wife be that Shane isn’t?
Maybe Ilya wants someone who will let him take charge. Shane isn’t that kind of person; he desperately clings to control with everything he has. He folds his clothes before sex and cleans his windows after Ilya fucks him against them. He controls his food portions, nutrition, his training schedule, image, and public appearances. He’s competitive. He would never roll over and take anything he didn’t want to.
The thought makes his stomach clench. The one place he doesn’t cling desperately to control is in the bedroom. He lets himself be molded, shaped, and coaxed into anything Ilya wants when they fuck. Giving up that control, is that all that Ilya likes about him?Or: Shane starts making a different kind of plan after the conversation where Ilya says he could marry Svetlana.

Bookmarker's Notes
Shane's thought process is heart breaking. This was sweet, tender, sad and beautiful.
"He can’t, he doesn’t want to give up more of himself. He doesn’t want to lock anything else up inside of him and put it in a box where it won’t see the light of day just to make someone else happy. But he loves Ilya. He’s taken this long to figure out that he wants him, and he’ll do whatever it takes to keep him."

Bookmarker's Notes
first story: Shane assuming that he's not a real long-term option for Ilya or that Ilya will eventually want to have a female partner. Great character study and a painful insight to Shane's way of thinking: enjoy Ilya while he's yours to enjoy, as it won't last forever.
"Compared to Svetlana, Ilya's relationship with Shane is unnecessary. It hurts to admit, but deep down, Shane has thought this for a long time—for longer than there has been a relationship at all. If there even is one now. Ilya had called him his boyfriend only a couple days ago, but it must’ve been to shock Shane into calming down, or a joke of some sort, or both. Because he couldn’t have meant it. Ilya’s father and brother had driven him out of Russia, but sooner or later he would become homesick. And with his father dead and his brother cut off, he would have no reason not to return."

Summary
“H’rder,” Shane whines into his mouth, not even trying to interrupt the kiss but speaking pathetically muffled and slurred around Ilya’s tongue.
Ilya knocks their foreheads together, smiles.
“Nooooo Ilya, not before the game, Ilya,” he whines, a sweetly mocking imitation of Shane, “and now look at you, mhm? Why should I ever listen to your complaining, baby, when you’re gonna be such an easy, perfect slut for it anyways?”
Or: Shane plays four-dimensional chess to get Ilya to fuck him even when he tells him no, for Shane-typical control freak reasons, in Shane-typical convoluted ways, with Shane-typical unawareness of this being a sex freak thing. Ilya provides, of course.

Summary
Shane Hollander has everything he’s ever wanted.
Drafted by the Montreal Metros and about to start his rookie season. What he doesn’t know is that home is quietly collapsing beneath him.His parents, drowning in bad investments and worse judgment, turned to the one man you never owe money to, Ilya Rozanov, a rising figure in the criminal underworld. Ilya built his empire by understanding people’s wants…and turning them into leverage.
When the final payment date arrives, the Hollander house is silent. No money. No options.
So Ilya makes his own.
With ice-cold logic and an obsession already brewing under the surface, he claims Shane—not his family—as collateral.
Shane walks into his living room expecting dinner, and walks out bound by a contract he never signed. He keeps his career—for now. Ilya knows Shane’s talent is an investment, a resource too valuable to waste.
Shane still travels with his team, skates under bright arena lights, and racks up points…but the freedom ends there. And Ilya is never far away.
Publicly, he is Shane’s mysterious “benefactor.”
Privately, he is his owner, his captor, and—slowly—his obsession. -

Summary
There was nothing standard about Shane and Ilya's relationship, so it really shouldn't have been so surprising that they had their first date over a decade after meeting each other.
It also shouldn't be surprising that it took roughly five minutes before it turned into a competition.

Summary
To be clear, Ilya is grateful the rookies aren’t growing up the way he did in the NHL. Ilya took the hazing to the chin – humiliation rituals, beat downs, grueling practices to prove he could “hang” with the big guns on the team.
That being said, there’s still some part of Ilya that balks at the request by the gaggle of rookies to watch The Iron Giant, a veritable children’s movie at the team’s latest movie night.
OR: Five times Shane and Ilya were the support system for the Centaur rookies they dreamed of having when they were younger.

Summary
“I don’t remember his name. Blond. Russian. Kind of intense.” Shane tries to keep his brain from lingering on memories of Ilya’s hands in his hair.
Rose has her mouth open when he looks over at her. “You literally talked to the team captain and you didn’t even know? Shane, that was Ilya Rozanov.”
Shane feels like he can’t breathe for a second at the sound of his name.
“That sounds right. Yeah.”
After a few seconds, Rose holds out her phone. It’s a picture of Ilya she has pulled up from Google. He’s in a hockey uniform but his helmet is off, curly hair glistening with sweat. “This is who you talked to, right?”
Shane nods. He hopes that it isn't obvious on his face that he did much more than talking with the man.
AU Where Shane Hollander is a rising actor and meets hockey star Ilya Rozanov at a club while celebrating an award show win. Between filming a movie where Shane is playing a gay man and having a casual relationship with Ilya, Shane deals with defining his sexuality and trying not to ruin their casual relationship with his feelings for Ilya.

Summary
This thing that they have—whatever the hell it is—it’s good. It’s easy. It feels like the only thing keeping Ilya afloat sometimes.
He can’t let it get to a place where it’s more than just a good, convenient fuck and some fun teasing in between. Even if sometimes, in brief moments of tenderness, it already feels like it’s more than that. Or at least like it’s something that can be, if they just let it.
But they don’t. They can’t.
Although sometimes, Ilya does find himself giving in to the urge to look at Shane just a little bit longer, to let his touch be just a little bit gentler, more reverent, than what it would be for something as casual as they claim this to be—albeit sparingly.
Sometimes, just for a moment, he lets himself indulge. He lets some of that affection bleed out of him because he feels like he’ll implode if he doesn’t.
But he always catches himself before it can linger.

“Did I do something wrong?”
“No. No, Hollander,” Ilya coughed, eyes flitting around the room. “Is just– Is too much.”
“This is… too much?” Shane repeated slowly, incredulously. “We see each other maybe once a month. Less, even.”
“No. Is not that– You are just,” Ilya swore under his breath in Russian. His accent was getting thicker, the words clunkier, in the way it always got stronger when he was frustrated or tired. Shane hated himself for recognizing it. “...too much.”
OR
In the Heated Rivalry book, Ilya intends to break things off with Shane the night of the All-Star Game, but then Shane gets hurt. What if Shane never gets injured by Marlow, and Ilya really does break things off?
(Basically, a shit ton of angst and Shane Hollander learning to love himself. There will be a happy ending!)
