Summary
When Leo was little, as in extra little and barely a cupboard tall, his favorite superhero wasn’t Batman like everyone would’ve guessed. As he grew older, he grew wiser and his taste in heroes changed. It became Batman like the top of Leo's imaginary podium had been made for him since the beginning of time.
And Leo couldn't think of a better guy to be like.
OR: Leo forgets to stop and smell the roses every once in a while, and childlike wonder is so easily lost in time.

There's many things Raphael doesn't know about the world. Why the Hunger Games are allowed to keep going after seventy years of bloodshed is one example he can think of, just off the top of his head. Why Michelangelo insists on putting jellybeans on every food to ever exist is another such thing.
Yet he's about to learn a lot more about the world than he would ever like to know. His world ended, now it's his turn to burn it down inch by inch - no matter the cost.

Summary
Stockman said that they were rewiring Leonardo’s brain so that Saki’s presence emanated in every fired neuron and connected synapse. Saki likened it to taking a sledgehammer to his skull.
or, at the end of season 2, the Shredder decides to keep Leo and instead sends a message by hurling Splinter's comatose body through the window. This gives him about three months to break Leo down into something new, through a combination of sensory deprivation, sensory overload, and a whole lot of mindfuckery. He wants a loyal devotee, even if he has to cram love down Leo's throat until it's all he's capable of bearing.
or, a three part series examining the before, during, and after of the conditioning Leo experiences at the Shredder's hand.

Summary
“Mikey?”
Michelangelo doesn’t answer, standing alone in the shadows. Leonardo moves to place a hand on his shoulder but pulls his hand back when the youngest screams in utter terror, his eyes wild and staring at the space around them. It’s a sound that haunts them all to their core, ringing over and over and Mikey keeps screaming and sobbing, begging for something they can’t understand. The fungi quickly latches onto his face, mushrooms digging into his eyes, across his shell -
“Mikey!” Raph yells but Mikey doesn’t hear them, lost in his own nightmare and unable to defend himself as the mushrooms consume his face completely. Instead, they can only watch helplessly as Michelangelo gets dragged into the darkness.~
A mysterious infestation of fungi in the sewer system of their old home causes the turtles to each become trapped in the own never-ending nightmares. Imprisoned in the dark caverns and the last one standing, Leo must battle his own fears if he stands a chance of saving his brothers before they are all consumed by their own terror.

TLDR: remember that 2012 episode with the fungus? I rewrote that for 2003, but much darker.

Summary
“Fine, you will help us clear the rest of the vermin,” she says, as if it’s a massive honour. The little girls drop their brownies and maces with disappointed noises. “However,” a finger is pointed at Casey’s mask, “if you injure or betray me or my minions, I will destroy you!”
“You have a thing for saying stuff fast,” Casey comments, reaching up a hand to wiggle one finger into his ear, “and loud. But that seems fair. You got a deal.”
He holds out the same hand out for a shake. She does nothing but stare at it.
“I would like to know the name of our ally,” she says, narrowing her eyes again. “And his face.”
“Oh,” Casey replies, lifting his mask with his other hand and giving her a wide, gummy smile. “Name’s Casey Jones. Nice to work– or, er, fight with you, I guess?”
“I am Cassandra,” she says. “But you can call me Sensei.”
“Yeah, that’s not gonna happen.” Casey brushes her off. “I only call one person Sensei, and last I checked you don’t have a rat tail.”
