Summary
‘Kaynes initial plan was just to frighten Arthur a bit, maybe a couple smaller wounds, then drop him in front of Hastur and enjoy all that delicious emotional turmoil. But this Arthur was about the right age, had the right suit on, and that family was so very disappointing to kill. Why not have a bit of fun? He could always clean him up, wipe his memory and still pass him along to old yeller.’

Summary
The air filled his nose with the scent of cheap hotel room and neon lust— heated gas filaments ready to combust. He cradled himself in Arthur’s neck to see if he smelled like an explosion, too. If he tasted like a thousand dying suns, or something else more human and unique. Something only Arthur Lester could smell of.
As he did so, he laughed to himself, breathless.
“I could kill you right now, and you don’t even know it,” he said.
Arthur was so pretty like this.
******
TLDR: Kayne uses his supernatural, time-freezing powers for personal satisfaction and messing with Arthur. John, begrudgingly, is also there.

Summary
Arthur's dreams are fulfilled 🙂 then SHATTERED BEFORE HIM ☹️
--
“I'm Faroe Lester. I'm 7 years old,” she says, "and 4 feet tall. I have dark brown hair that I keep in pigtails.”It's as she says. Her eyes are just like yours. I recognize her from Daniel's photo, although she's... older.
“F-four. Four years.” So much of her life. Multiverses... Arthur remembers the mountains of dead Arthurs, Faroes. “She... is she... my... m-my...”
Silence.
“Is she your hmmmmmmmm?” Kayne asks.
His daughter, his blood, the one he killed – the specific wet corpse Arthur pulled out of the overflowing tub and buried – is that the girl Kayne brought here? Is that the horror he's undone? The corpse unburied? When Kayne pulled a living girl out of a tub, was she really the same girl Arthur raised?
Arthur can't bear to articulate it. The words won't come out.
“Cat got your tongue?” Kayne giggles. “You know you can ask her. She's right here, Artie. Like you wanted?”
“F-Faroe. Do you remember me?”
She makes a nervous, noncommittal sound. Death.
“It's ok, sweetie,” Uncle Kayne says, “you can tell him.”
“No,” she mumbles. “Sorry.”
“Ahahahaha! What a shame!”

But oh, if he's going to fall, he's going to bring the sky down with him. He's going to drag the heavy gray fog, every bolt of lightning, every last star down to burn the earth to its core. His limbs practically painted the ground on impact, and still he was a vile, burning, angry thing.
And it was all his fault.
//
Or, Kayne finds his answer.
