Summary
Leon Blackwood is a new face in Ishgard, a broke refugee from Ul'dah who's desperate for the cash to afford another night in town. When he picks up a job from the Temple Knights, he's expecting an easy scouting mission--even if his assigned companion is a Temple Knight Commander with a stick up his ass and clear ties to a past Leon's trying his best to leave behind.
Shri'ke Lanius, former Temple Knight Commander, is recently returned to Ishgard. He picks up a search and rescue mission with enough of a pay out that he’ll finally be able to make some serious headway in repairing the derelict manor he has begun to call home. One problem, though: the man who's been assigned to be his backup is clearly a Garlean.
Shri'ke's spent enough time in his life fighting them to know.
Their conflict ends up being the least of their worries, however, when the pair arrive in Hemlock to discover that the reason for the missing contingent's prolonged absence is a creature neither are prepared to face.
