Summary
Lan Wangji steps into the circular array to inspect the pool. It looks like it’s filled with a viscous substance similar to blood.
He's leaning over with his hand braced on the edge when a happy little fox yip from behind surprises him into dragging his hand across the stone, the sharp edges nicking him across the palm.
He withdraws with a hiss, but it's too late.
The array etched across the walls and floor flares to life. The last thing Lan Wangji sees before he passes out is his fox companion trotting over towards him, even as his silhouette starts to morph.

When Lan Wangji finally comes to, he's on the ground, flat on his back. It doesn't feel like he's hurt himself, although his mouth is a little dry. There's a makeshift pillow made of cloth set between his head and the floor.Strange. He doesn't remember the fox being able to do that.
"Oh, good. You're awake."

They were planning on having a little fun with some toys today, but the idea of Lan Wangji reddening his behind is intriguing enough to give the both of them pause. Wei Wuxian gives an awkward laugh and makes to climb off his lap until he grips his hip, keeping him in place.
Lan Wangji's ears are a fetching shade of pink - together, they're both shameless enough that Wei Wuxian doesn't see this color as often as he did when they first started out.

“Oh, that’s He Xuan. He’s a regular.”
They’re on their break. Shi Qingxuan sips his coke through a straw, a small bag of chips open in his lap. The break room had been so crowded, so they’re sitting in the bath section, tucked near the back where the cheapest tub options are displayed. Shi Qingxuan sits atop a faux-marble countertop, and Xie Lian is sinking relaxedly into the boxy bathtub. His phone is in front of his face, a twizzler dangling from his lips.
“At first, I thought he was gonna hit me for telling him we couldn’t do the refund.”
Xie Lian snorts, good-naturedly. “He Xuan is as harmless as a butterfly.” He bites off a piece of the twizzler, then takes the rest from his mouth, spinning it between his thumb and forefinger. “He’s just a little...eccentric.” Shi Qingxuan thinks that’s a charitable opinion, but he doesn’t say so. Xie Lian slides his phone into the pocket of the gaudy orange apron that’s a part of their uniforms. “Anyway, manager says we should give him refunds when he wants them. No matter what state he’s bringing things back in.”
“Why?” Shi Qingxuan asks, baffled.
Biting off another piece of candy, Xie Lian shrugs. “Maybe she’s got a soft spot for him, I dunno.”
