Atsushi was woken by a loud knocking at his door. He sat up groggily, wiping sleep from his eyes. He squinted at the clock on his bedside and he pulled on a jumper.
3:00 am? Who could be knocking at 3:00 a.m.?
He almost fell out of bed before hurrying through his small, cluttered apartment to the door. The smooth, lino floor was cold under his bare feet.
“I’m coming,” he called as he tripped over a pair of shoes tossed on the floor. The knocking didn’t stop. If anything it grew louder and more impatient. It couldn’t be Dazai, he’d made a copy of the key ages ago. Kunikida always called him first not at 3:00 am and the rest of the agency hadn’t even gone to his apartment before.
