Summary
Mike Wheeler was tall, with long dark hair, usually tied up in a ponytail, and a face full of freckles; he was what girls would call mysterious looking, but Dustin knew him better than that, and he could confirm he was actually just moody and didn’t give a single flying shit about girls. But for some reason, he seemed to really enjoy Jane’s company, they worked well together, both in the paper and outside of it. So, naturally, Dustin assumed that whatever Jane’s feelings were, Mike probably reciprocated them. Which would be correct if Dustin didn’t think Jane was in love with Mike, so, needless to say, he was very wrong, and he is just about to find out just how wrong.
A Modern day AU where Dustin and Jane have been best friends since they were 8, but they’ve been secretly in love for years.

Except for the fact that almost every time Sabine was over in the two years Ezra had lived here, Shin had guests. She was never with the same woman twice—Sabine made note of this in her head. Not that she cared about Shin’s relationship preferences, or lack thereof. It was arbitrary, something to keep her mind entertained so she didn’t get too pissed off every time she heard the repetitive banging of the headboard against the wall and hardly-muffled cries of oh, yes, and more, please.
Shin is one of Ezra's roommates and despite not living there, Sabine would like to file some noise complaints.

“Okay. You have a deal — I’m choosing to believe you’re good for it. But you come straight here tomorrow morning with the money.”
Kit almost laughs under her breath. How does he expect to force her to?
“Suppose it would be hard to run with an empty tank,” he continues as if he read her thoughts. “But I’m not cruel. If my daughter was stupid enough to find herself in a situation like you, I’d want someone to take pity on her, too.”
Kit resists the offended glare she so wants to shoot him, settling for an eyebrow raise that she’s certain conveys just the right amount of snark. She doesn’t want to shoot herself in the foot when she’s this close to a warm bed. And a shower.
“The inn is about a 3/4 mile walk up the hill. Can’t miss it; just head left out of here and you’ll come across it in no time,” he explains. “My wife should be there. If not her, then her sister is.”

Hazel pumps a fist at the victory, a scream of triumph coming from deep within her as she beams at the team, eyes smiling and blood running down from her nose and even staining her teeth and—
Stella’s eyes are suddenly very wide.
“And that’s an epic save by number eleven, Rockbridge Falls’ goalie, Hazel fucking Callahan!” The announcer calls over the speakers, and Hazel beams up towards the booth with that same breathless smile, eyes shining with excitement.
“Oh.” Stella is suddenly able to get out then as the rest of the team begins to rush their way toward Hazel in elation at the victory.
Brittany glances over at Stella coolly despite the chaotic commotion of it all. Her brow arches. “Oh?”
Stella Rebecca can only blink as she watches Hazel’s grin under the force of Sylvie’s noogie, as she sees her laughing through bloodied teeth and grappling with their friends and— Stella blinks again before she’s turning and beaming at Brittany in pleasant surprise. “I think I’m gay.”
Brittany stares at Stella for a long time before she blinks. She shakes her head as if to clear it, and when that doesn’t work, she simply responds. “What?”

PJ can’t help but laugh at the adorableness of her partner. “Hazel, baby? I can’t understand you, both because you are talking to my partially digested lunch burrito and because you’re not actually saying anything,” PJ says gently, about as gently as anyone has or ever will hear her speak, a tone reserved almost entirely for Hazel.
Most people would get an ‘out with it’ snapped at them before PJ would lose patience and stop caring. But Hazel is not most people. Hazel is PJ’s wonderful, handsome partner who has dealt with more of her shit at this point than even Josie has since before they even started dating during that fever dream of a senior year. Hazel, who is sweet and caring and has never done anything wrong in their life (yes, PJ is including the bombs, what of it?). Hazel, who PJ has had the honor of watching grow into such a strong, confident person that PJ can definitely guess what this is about because there is only one thing that makes Hazel this nervous anymore.
