Summary
The Mark and Helena lookalikes at the door smile pleasantly, and for a moment, the four of them just stare at each other. It’s bizarre, like looking in some kind of mirror, but also not. Then, lookalike Mark shakes his head like he’s just remembered he’s supposed to say something.
“Oh, hello there,” he says pleasantly. His voice is a little higher-pitched than Mark’s own. “We heard you two have a few questions that we might be able to help with.”
The Helena lookalike gives them a quick once-over and then smirks. “You might want to get dressed for this.”

After the events of Chapter 12 of I'll Meet You There, Mark and Helena are visited by their alternate selves from Outside With You and are offered some...very specific advice.

Summary
“You got to be kidding me,” she breathes when she opens her eyes and finds herself lying on her back on what she’s fairly sure is ice.
Mark’s face appears above hers, his eyes swimming with concern. “Whoa, are you okay?”
Helena nearly growls at him and his eyes immediately widen when she pushes herself to a seated position.
“Did you ever consider that strapping a pair of metal blades to the feet of a person who might undergo a sudden switch in identities might not be the best idea?”

Helena refuses to celebrate Christmas with Mark, but somehow she keeps appearing during all of Mark and Helly's cute Christmas plans.

Summary
“I’m decorating for Halloween,” Mark says, gesturing to the inflatable ghost on the lawn, the fake spiderwebs and decorations on the front porch of their little house.
“Oh,”Helena says with a little shrug. “I didn’t know that there were special decorations.”
“Really?”
“Well I’ve never celebrated Halloween before.”
“Wait, you've never celebrated Halloween?” he asks in disbelief. “Like…ever?”

Summary
“Helly!” Mark grins at her, relief palpable on his face and she’s immediately taken aback. “Oh my God. Are you okay?”
He steps even closer and she instinctively wants to back up. She doesn't do this. People don’t come into her personal space. She isn't greeted with a warm smile or open arms. But she quickly smooths her expression into something resembling relief, tries to remember that Helly cares for this innie.
He’s so warm, so close, and real when he wraps his arms around her. She’s frozen for a moment in the embrace, her arms hanging uselessly over his shoulders, all of her senses overwhelmed because when was the last time someone hugged her?
But then she reminds herself: they aren’t people. They might look and sound and feel like it, but they’re not. And so she carefully tightens her arms around him like Helly would, curious about his reaction.
Or, a look into Helena's mind as she spends more than three days on the severed floor.

Summary
It starts with a nosebleed.
Helly hovers nearby, the image of blood smeared on his cheek still fresh in her mind. Miss Huang's voice fades to a dull hum as her gaze catches on Mark's hand, his fingers wrapped around the edge of the desk. Her mind immediately flashes to exactly where that hand was not even an hour ago, and she's sure her face is flushed as she recalls how wonderful he made her feel.
Everything since she returned to the severed floor has been a nightmare that she can’t escape, but this. This is one good thing. Something that belongs just to her and Mark.
Something that no one can take away from her.
But then Miss Huang suddenly calls out Mark's name, her voice shrill with panic. When Helly looks at him, his face is paler than it should be, his gaze vacant, and a thick tendril of fear slithers through her veins.

Summary
He lets out a small groan and she turns to see him slowly sitting up and rubbing at his eyes trying to rid them of sleep.
She turns to him and offers a small smile, spatula in hand. ‘Morning.’
JJ blinks at her a couple times, his hand comes up to run through his already tousled hair, his eyes focus onto her and Kie can’t quite figure out what makes his eyes slightly widen and his mouth fall when they do.
‘Holy shit,’ he breathes out.
Her first thought is that he sounds shocked, the next is crap, did he not remember last night? He hadn’t seemed drunk, but she can’t be sure. Maybe she’s just created an insanely awkward situation where he hasn’t seen her in two years and all of a sudden he wakes up and she’s in his kitchen making breakfast.
‘You really are pregnant,’ he continues.

After finding out she’s pregnant, for reasons even she doesn’t quite understand herself, Kie goes to JJ. Throughout the months of her pregnancy her and JJ fall into comfortable and entirely platonic domesticity that will in no way result in them falling in love.- Language:

He means to swerve back onto the road, he really does, but his arms don’t seem to work, and his heart is frozen and empty, and he’s alone and he’s broke and—
There are too many excuses to make before he collides with the tree. So he just closes his eyes and braces for impact.
His vision turns white as the airbags explode. A whiff of gasoline. A flicker of flames—close, too close. And then everything is black.
OR
JJ racks up some serious medical debt, and naturally the only solution is to find El Dorado.

She says, “I’ve missed you.” And she’s not exactly sure what she means by it, but the words feel right as they spill from her clumsy mouth.
His brows slant over his eyes, he sucks in a breath. Kie thinks she might have ruined everything. God, if only she could keep her mouth shut.
But then he softens. Says, “I’m right here, Kie. Always been right here.”

And okay, JJ Maybank is not exactly a stranger, but they’ve spoken approximately three times in the six months she’s been working here. Enough that she knows his name is JJ Maybank, that he mostly hangs out here because he’s good friends with Cleo, and that he will lend you his zippo lighter when you’re sharing cigarettes in the back alley, but will keep his eyes on you like a hawk until you give it back.
That’s nowhere near enough for him to ask her what time she gets off so casually, and certainly not enough for him to call her babe.
