The girl’s shoulders hunch again. An expression is battling on her face. Guilt again, and fear, and shame. And then faintly, in the soft turn of her cheek, commiseration. She watches Gustave for a long, sad moment, and then turns to a new page in the notepad. She starts writing something, and then stops, glancing furtively at Gustave before scribbling it out. On a new line she instead writes in big bold letters:
Maelle.
OR
Gustave is the local mechanic of Lumiere, an idyllic coastal village far away from the chaos and conflict of Paris. Struggling with his recent injury and the loss of a good friend, he's not quite prepared when a family moves into the abandoned Manor on the edge of town.
He's definitely not prepared for their children.

Comforting, sometimes, having the most fearsome Crow in Antiva at her shoulder. Galling, occasionally, when people look at her and only see the threat of Lucanis’s shadow.
Lucanis, holding her after the latest round of nightmares. Anchoring her to sanity with his soft beard against her cheek, his hands on her ribcage while her heart tries to beat itself out of her chest. Every night in his arms is another night she’s grateful she outlived the gods.
Life would be simpler if she loved him a little less.
The gods are dead, the world's a mess, no one is happy about the new Talon, and Rook's haunted by regret. Rook, Spite, and Lucanis figure out how to live despite it all.

“And what do the rumors say?” The Green Witch asks. As she looks up, her now-brown eyes meet stormy dark blue that crackle with anger that doesn’t match the calm, almost playful, expression on her face.
“That there is a woman that comes to take the dead."
“And am I living up to this reputation?”
“You’re prettier than I expected,” the stranger responds with a lilt and a voracious grin.
OR, The irony of laughing at the poor, silly, stupid people who were foolish enough to fall in love with an immortal not-quite-even-a-person, only to become one of those people yourself.
OR, I attempted to write a Hanahaki Disease fanfiction, but so far, it's just a slow burn love story with the specter of Hanahaki Disease lingering ominously in the background.
