May 31st 1986, two weeks until graduation. Robin, Eddie, and Nancy are all set to walk across the stage, Eddie being given a free pass after the whole ‘almost framed for murder’ thing. The three have been trying to be excited about their graduation, but it feels almost mundane to be excited when Steve wouldn’t be there. They would be sat out on a football field in the blistering heat while waiting for their names to be called, with Dustin and Max in the crowd, cheering them on in Steve's place. There would be fake smiles plastered to all their faces, no matter how realistic they tried to make them.
None of them have genuinely smiled since Steve got Vecna'd.
Sixty-Five days. Steve had been in a coma for Sixty-Five days. The doctors keep telling The Party that it doesn't look good, that Steve's injures had been severe, and that they didn't know if, when, he would wake up.
But they refused to lose hope.
He'll wake up.
It's just a matter of time.

It doesn’t come as a surprise that Silco has a difficult relationship with scars. After all, every time he looks into the mirror, he sees his mauled face reflected back at him, and no amount of make up can erase the gruesome sight. No matter how much time passes, he knows he will never get used to the stares he gets on the street, the whispers and rumours that follow him around.
He thought it would be different with the twin lines on his chest. He thought that since he chose this, since he made the active decision to get these scars, that he would like them or at least be able to tolerate their presence. Silco’s chest has never been that big, and so the scars are small, merely pink lines on his pale flesh. And yet…
Or: Silco accidentally falls for the handsome tattoo artist working on the ink over his top surgery scars.

Fuck. He was doing a shit job of avoiding the past.
Another shot downed, then a second that was really a fifth, then a third that was really a sixth. If he couldn’t stop thinking about then on his own then he’d get so wasted he couldn’t think at all.

Silco stills. Is it truly? He’d forgotten, in preoccupation with everything else that had been going on recently. He offers a halfhearted scoff.
“I think I’m past the age for well-wishes.”
Vander skirts his way around the bar, meeting Silco on the other side, leaning into his space. “I don’t think so. I think it’s another year older, which means another year you’re alive and with me. Sometimes I think about how easily it could have gone another way, and I get so thankful I still have you in my life. What Ekko said the other day—“
“That’s all in the past,” Silco assures him. “You stupid sap, of course I’m with you. Where else would I be?”
Silco finds himself drawn between a pair of overbearingly large arms, and Vander’s face softens, his smile so incandescently happy that Silco can hardly stand to look at it for fear of being blinded.
“Let me take you upstairs,” Vander whispers. “Let me make you feel good tonight.”
