“I knew you would!” Zoey cheers, before lunging for her in a blur and crashing into her chest, wrapping all four of her limbs around Mira’s chest the moment she hits her.
Mira looks down at Zoey with a smile. She makes sure to wait a long moment before she curls her long arms around Zoey’s shoulders, squeezing her tight, because she likes to pretend she’s too cool for this, and Zoey is sweet enough to let her.
She’s sweet enough to let Mira keep up this facade that her upbringing drilled into her.
A childhood alone, never fitting in—with a family too rich and too important to do silly things like hug their children—it sank into her, down to the bones.
It changed her.
So it’s hard now, surrounded by these two girls she loves, to ask for what she wants, what she needs.
It’s hard to reach out, hug them close, no matter how much she wants to feel their skin against hers, wants that pressure that reassures her that she’s not alone, that they do love her. -

I wasn’t spontaneously teleported to another place. Monsters didn’t start pouring out of holes in the fabric of time. No otherworldly voice spoke words of wisdom or warning in my ear. Had I… had I hallucinated that whole debacle? Did I just imagine the world shifting three degrees sideways and tilting diagonally backwards? No one else was reacting to what had happened, so I had to conclude with a sort of grim resignation that I was obviously losing my mind.
Resolved to pretend nothing had happened, I took a step towards the door.

"Oh we're live!" Zoey's eyes flick up to the camera, her smile widening and both hands coming up to wave vigorously.
The chat explodes in greetings.
Rumi remains close to the camera, her brows furrowed together. "How do you know we're live?"
Zoey gestures at something off screen, "Because I hit that," and then she points over to something in the corner that makes Rumi visibly balk. "And because everyone is saying hi."
Rumi blinks slowly, "That's moving very fast."
Zoey lets out a laugh that is equal parts fond as it is amused. She reaches across Rumi for the mouse, faint clicking audible before she's addressing the chat. "Guys, baby's first stream! How do we feel?"
Or, Five times polytrix is almost outed on Rumi's stream and the slow descent into total freedom
